Mason Greenwood to leave Man Utd......rumoured to be Lazio

    This is just obscene.

How can......careful what I say here...... a player, who hasn't featured in the Premier League for more than 18 months be worth an estimated £30,000,000? Man Utd don't have many players worth that level in their club so why such an eye watering amount?

I should imagine we all have our thoughts as to what did/or didn't happen but all charges were dropped against him, so in the eye of the law, a free man.

This is football at it's craziest.

Because he played 30 odd games in La Liga last season and was apparently in great form.

Man Utd don’t have many players worth that? Which ones do you reckon you’d get for less than 30 million? I can’t think of many despite them being really poor last season.

As crazy as it seems to fans of clubs at our level, 30 million isn’t really out of the ordinary at that level anymore. He’d probably be going for a lot more if it wasn't for his ‘problems’.

Well it turned not to be Lazio but Marseille. The town Mayor has been up in arms strongly objecting to Greenwood being signed.

As always, money talks. His buying fee being up to £26.6 Million. Looks like someone is willing to give a second chance within football so to speak.

Marseille have signed forward Mason Greenwood from Manchester United until 2029 in a deal worth up to 31.6m euros (£26.6m).
Greenwood, 22, was a product of United's academy but has not played for the Premier League club since January 2022 and was on loan at Getafe last season.
Serious charges against him, including attempted rape and assault, were dropped in February 2023.
The French club were criticised by the Marseille mayor after their intention to sign Greenwood was made public.
He made his competitive senior debut for United in 2019 as a substitute against Paris St-Germain in the Champions League.
He scored 35 goals in 129 appearances and won his only England cap in 2020.
In August 2023, United said Greenwood would leave the club by mutual agreement after a six-month internal investigation into his conduct.
He joined La Liga side Getafe the following month, where he scored 10 goals and made six assists in 36 appearances to revive his career.
United, who wished Greenwood well on their website, have also included a sizeable sell-on clause in their deal with Marseille.
Marseille face Sunderland in a pre-season friendly on 3 August at Bradford City's Valley Parade, with the Stadium of Light unavailable because of renovation work.
Greenwood was born in Bradford and it could be his first game back in England since he was arrested in January 2022 following allegations surrounding material which was published online.

Spot on Brin. Greenwood was one of the forerunners of this ''golden generation'' and would surely have been heavily involved in the Euros just gone.

All charges dropped so in the eyes of the law an innocent man.

Should he be allowed back into the fold of the England camp or, have Man Utd set the precedent by selling him?

Absolutely, all charges dropped. No crime committed.........end of! Do you have to beat two systems to clear your name these days.....trial by jury and then trial by social meeja? What the Major of Marseille has said basically undermines our justice system.

Whilst no criminal acts were committed in this instance a club , such as manu ,may not accept unsavoury incidents that bring their name and more importantly to them ,their brand into disrepute
This will be in each players contract. There was a lot of negative press over this that could have put off sponsors.
The sponsors may have put pressure on the club to act.

Difficult to speculate what it might be without knowing the details
As Manu haven’t lost out on a transfer fee it’s probably a no brainier for them
