    West Brom 2

    Peterborough 1

Asante on the scoresheet again. Plus an own goal after a deflected cross from Grant.

Good to see Cleary get some minutes as well -he may end up getting some opportunities this coming season if we cannot get a new striker over the line. Any idea how Maja did second half?

Big season for Cleary, but he'll have to take his opportunities when they arrive. A tremendous finisher at his previous levels, just hoping he can now meet Carlos' expectations to regularly be around the first team squad.

I was quite excited about Cleary but he’s been unimpressive when he had a first team chance. Malcolm looked better and scored in a match. Cleary is considered better than Malcolm though. It’s a big step up for these lads. I haven’t seen anything about Maja yet.

Would be great, we would all love it if he took to it like Fellows. There are very few who are good enough. Mentality is the thing even a bit of arrogance rather than just ghosting through games.

Cleary had a spell when he seemed to be almost scoring for fun at PL2 level but, as Boingy said, he never looked terribly impressive when given his chance and then he didn't look match fit for a while, although I seem to remember he picked up an injury as well?

Tbh, I thought that he might have been sent out on loan but maybe Carlos still sees signs of potential in him? I too thought Jovan Malcolm took his first team opportunity better but the club have released him so presumably Cleary is thought more of.

Cleary's spent the best part of eighteeen months injured on and off hampering any prospect of a loan, games from the bench or general development. The raw ingredients are there and he's a strong lad. He just needs a run of fitness for things to come together.

I said two years ago that Clearly worried me from a fitness point of view, another Anichebe type of physique.

Too thick around the thigh and a r s e, a walking hamstring candidate if ever there was one.

His type of physique allows a player to bully opposition at age group levels but once you get to elite level you’re up against tremendous athletes and you lose that advantage unless you can find a way.

He reminds me of Luke Benbow who’s played a lot for Stourbridge FC, very similar physically and the scorer of tremendous goals at Step 7 football but as soon as he tried a level higher or played against League teams in FA Cup matches he was anonymous.

He has back and hamstring issues constantly as well.

I like Cleary’s finishing but unless he can drop some weight and work extremely hard on his fitness I don’t see him making it.
