O/T Sir Alex Ferguson & Co-Partners Smash Their Own World Record For A Jump Horse

Sir Alex Ferguson & Co-partners smash their own world record for a jump horse,
today at the Goffs sale at Doncaster today, Monday 22 July 2024.

With bloodstock agent Tim Malone [TMBloodstock] & trainer Paul Nicolls doing the
bidding for Ferguson & his 4 partners, the horse Regents Stroll was bought for a
world record of £660,000 a record at a public auction.
The unbeaten 5 year old which had never jumped a obstacle in public, had been
running in bumper races, is a relative of Denman.
The bidding started at £400,000 with increments of £20,000 bid.

On the day Tim Malone & Paul Nicholls bid £1.5m at the auction, altogether.

Alex Ferguson & his co-partners had previously held the record in February 2024,
when buying jump horse Caldwell Potter for £633,000

To different owners staying in Nicholls yard?

Will take time for all including sir Alex to see a profit on their purchases with low prize money on NH racing.

It was the Chris Giles dispersal sale Gru, where they sold eleven of his horses.Tom Malone bought most of them back for a group of owners who have horses with Nicholls, including Hales and Ferguson. I think you are right about them struggling to get their money back on most of them, Stay Away Fay will be 8 on Jan 1st and Rubaud will be seven. Regent's Stroll will only be six on Jan 1st so has time, but it hasn't jumped a hurdle in public yet so it is a massive gamble at £660k lmo.

Horses that start off in point to point racing are more likely to start jumping fences at an earlier age. But if your going the bumper hurdle route think ideally you need to be starting them off as 4 year olds then turn of the year be 5 for meetings like the Cheltenham Festival & Aintree Grand national meeting. Then see where your going with them if they're types to go novice chasing. If they have the ability be looking at the top chases when they're 7. Not many horses go on after the age of 9 to keep that standard up to be a force in those races.

Ferguson & 2 of his mates had money to spend, with flat horse Spirit Dancer fetching £1.5m in prize money last November & this February.
Ferguson horses also won 2 races at the Cheltenham Festival, obtaining £275k in prize money.
