    Asante to Southampton?

Some speculation that they want him to replace Adams.

I suspect this isn’t true but with him only having a year left on his contract I’d be happy to rob them of £5m plus.

Interesting. It was £5,000,000 to play alongside Simms at Coventry City in June. Much as I appreciate his endeavour I'd be looking to move him on for amounts in that region with only twelve months left on his deal under the proviso we have an adequate replacement through the door sooner than ASAP.

    I agree 68.

    I hadn’t heard about Coventry’s interest tbh.

If we’re looking to build a side with younger players, why get rid of Asante. He’s only 25 years old and has done well for us. He needs an out and out striker to play alongside him and if we can get one in I can see him going from strength to strength. You have to ask the question, why do Southampton want to sign him? Need to keep him in my opinion.

Because he only has a year left on his contract.

The club are not going to risk any asset who has a sell on value by letting them run out their contract, this makes perfect business sense.

If Asante won’t agree a new contract in the next month or so then the club really has to make the right business decision which is to sell him.

He’s been a real bargain for us and I can see him getting better. Ridiculous though at a time where we are really low on strikers to even think about letting him go. Remember some of the last minute fiascos we’ve had in not getting signings through. We could end up with just Maja.

BTA has been fantastic for us, considering he came from Lg2 and has played on his own up front numerous times he ‘s been excellent, it would be nice to see him with a partner, there was one game where BTA played with Maja and they looked really good together, I would keep him

I also read somewhere that Sheff Utd and Stoke were interested too

Couldn't care less either way. Bottom line is he works hard but never a lone striker and not ruthless in front of goal.
