Barnsley FC Women are at the financial crossroads. They generate little or no income. On the contrary there are costs covered by the main Men's side at Oakwell.
Quay uses phrases like the need to "lean into" the Oakwell men's structure at Oakwell and "We're trying to grow a women's team out of a men's club". Quay has linked herself to last season's success in an amateur Tier 5 league but has now to adjust to the semi professional status of Tier Four and it will cost more money. Everything will be hunky dory if both men's and women's teams are winning and successful. Quay will struggle more to be the women's advocate if Barnsley struggle at Tier Four. Funding then begins to be questioned.
One bit did surprise me. It says fashionista Quay "splits her time between New York and Oakwell".
Go Well Jess and the Women this season.
Unless I am misunderstanding the article it seems that--
1. Quay and Colm Dillane (mega fashionista) were delegated to again design the BFC Shirt.
2. Quay wanted the Men's and Women's shirts to be the same, red home, "white" away, pink third
3 The traditional white shorts with the red top could not be chosen in case the white shorts revealed via leakage if a Woman player was menstruating and the Oakwell laundry lass had complained about getting rid of grass stains. Black shorts were too warm. The white shirts became a light grey with white numbers.
4 Players were consulted as well as Colm Dillane and the laundry employee.
5 The Women's top will advertise Quay's fashion empire VFILES
And in a flash years of tradition of Barnsley FC in a red top and white shorts has gone.

As a business woman Julie will soon realise her mistake in consulting with the fashionista Colm Dillane and the laundry lady? If she had consulted with supporters she will have realised the mistake of last seasons horrendous home shirt, which was a flashback to a shirt the majority of supporters hated in it's first incarnation! This seasons move from white shorts will alienate a large proportion of supporters of which I one! We play in red and white not all red, there is no reason why the men could have stayed in white shorts and the women had red ones? I look forward to the 25/26 season what will she do change our home strip to all blue?
Anyway I like the home shirt, the others are horrible and Julie will realise this when the sales hit an all time low and should force a rethink on whom she consults in future.
Quay (VFiles) and Dillaine (Kids Super) are global mega fashionistas and do not need any help from the likes of thee Perks.![]()
Well SB before she became involved with us, I had never heard of her or the super kid and based on their efforts with our kit I’m glad because frankly they are not very good at it. They may be better at designing frocks for men like the ones Harry Styles wears, but you never hear famous stars saying “I’m wearing a Vfiles or a Kid super creation” at the BAFTA’s or Oscars!
Me well…….I’m a legend in my own head, my mum taught me how to sow and with my vivid imagination I KNOW I could come up with a better shirt than those two have over 2 season’s, for starters there would be no stars, the club badge would never be in the centre of the shirt and the shorts would be white!
The trouble with people like you and other fans Perks is that you are stuck in the past, unwilling to accept the fresh ideas and new designs coming over the Atlantic from talented designers such as Julie and Colm.![]()
I have heard next season on the catwalk in Milan the Barnsley FC kit is to be a one piece body stocking with the shirt, shorts and socks all in one, in a light red with patterns of darker red stars.
Embrace the new Perks.
You do make me chuckle SB.
