One down. Forty five to go. Long season ahead?

    Thoughts on today's game?

    Disappointment.
It was like looking in the mirror from last season.
    Just bland, aimless hoofball.
    Things can only get better.

Same old Rotherham I’m afraid. Just a different Manager. They’ve always got a mistake or two in them.
    Disgraceful result.
Been taken in by all the hype. Simply awful.

They let a creative midfielder leave before getting a replacement, but not only that HE GOES A DAY BEFORE THE GAME.

I mean you spend all summer waiting for the football season to start & then you can’t wait for the summer.

    No width at all.

Think it will get worse before it gets better.

    The corner near full time:
Phillips runs the length of the pitch.
the ball goes straight out directly from the corner.
    Sums our performance up really.
I can't find anything at all to be optimistic about from that performance. But ..... It's only the first game.
I hope the Millers that went down are staying over so they get some enjoyment from the trip

A draw would have been a fair result, but as I said in the match thread, in a close game either side need just one moment of quality and the cross for the winner was that bit, unfortunately it was for Exeter. I'm not too down as I dont think we will show our best until around October when we have had time to gel and can kick on. UTM

I am going to go early because it deserves it. Firstly TS fine Evans, refusing to shake hands at the end is a disgrace, it shows what a sore loser and bitter man you are, if you want others to respect you in the game you have to behave better than that, we do not want our club represented in that way, it will turn officials and others clubs against us.
The performance was awful only positives, was Nombe trying, the Forest youngster winning more headers in 5 minutes than JCH and Hugill did all first half, Phillips stopping it being 3 or 4 and a real battling performance from Odofin, other than that it was very very bad. I said after Grimsby we are just a huff and chase team and got passed off the pitch in the 2nd half, we haven't scored since then. We seem to hope for set piece goals yet in the last minute we can't even take a corner correctly. The style of football is shocking, in fact there isn't any football it is a series of "hail marys". Evans said we would get a Rotherham style back, well that was what we saw from Exeter, giving everything to get the points. There were a lot of players in Rotherham shirts that looked slow, not bothered and completely lacking any belief or confidence. Yes odofin should have scored just before they did and Christ just after, but we don't look capable of scoring goals, since we did preseason against the non-league teams we haven't looked like creating clear chances and taking them, that is a real worry. the midfield is crying out for kelly to bring some calmness into the game. I feel lower after that game than i did last year against Stoke it was a league higher, we got back into the game last year and went down to 10 men, we could have played another hour and we wouldn't have scored today. Now a lot has to improve, i don't want excuses from Evans the ref wasn't great but it was for both sides, I want us to put a good team out against Crewe and win the game in 90 mins and put a real performance in next Saturday, a lot has to improve on that today. Perhaps losing and playing so bad might help us in the long run, it certainly means we need to spend the Ollie money on a good player to run that midfield.

Exeter City deserved the win mate, they had a hunger for the ball, Millers team were mis-jointed.
