    Walking football?

Is anyone on here playing it or tried it?

I still miss playing and would love to give it a try so I wondered if any of you knew of a good place to start?

I know Hartshill Strollers are a renowned walking club but I’d like to give it a whirl somewhere a bit less high profile initially?

It’s popular isn’t it? I just can’t imagine me not going for it. I can’t stop the urge to sprint and at my age now that would spell trouble. Let me know how you get on Mick.

Never done walking football personally. To be perfectly honest I don't think my one knee in particular would put up with it as I imagine you'll still need to turn quite quickly at times.

I know a couple of blokes who play on a regular basis and they really enjoy it although the one who reads this site but won't sign up constantly berates anyone approaching a slight hint of a jog (don't you Tony 😉 ? ) .

Here's a link which will take you to the Worcestershire FA's walking football page. There's a long list of places to choose from but I haven't checked to see how far any of them are from Chaddesley Corbett. Enjoy 😎.

I have been playing it for over 2 years now. Dropped it down to twice a week as my knee and back can't take any more than that. I play with with Albion Foundation guys on a Wed evening at Halford Lane and on a Friday night at Walsall's Bescot Stadium. I love it. We play four touch football, running gets called a foul, 4 fouls its a penalty. No tackling from behind and should be no contact. No over head height. You do get people in their enthusiasm running and fouling sometimes as its hard to take the competitiveness out of yourself. I would recommend it to anyone who cannot manage proper football. I'm 71 and still get a big thrill from playing football of any kind.

    Thanks 68.

The urge to run seems to be an issue for many, I’ve watched a few videos including one of the England ladies over 40’s v England men’s over 70’s and if that’s walking I’m a “Them” and no longer a bloke!

People seem to be at the very least jogging into position so god knows how they police this.

Played it a couple of times, and it’s not really walking as such more like the ‘walking’ they do in the athletics 10k walk type event, it is actually quite tiring, but better on the joints by far than running.

On another take what about FOOT GOLF seems quite popular and fairly sedate, anyone tried that??
