    Contents insurance

Spent most of the day on the phone over this. Firstly to cancel my insurance which is DOUBLE this year. The reasons they gave was “well we’ve has a lot of subsidence claims this year” so I gave the usual “Is this being recorded?” “Good” “You’ve had no subsidence claims off me, in fact no claims at all over the decades I’ve been with you, so you’ve lost this £400 a year, I don’t expect anybody from 40 miles away to pay for any of my breakages, so I’m not paying for anyone else’s!”

Found a company (Urban jungle) for £6 a month and suits my needs perfectly. Took 2 minutes AND they have a phone number to actually talk to a person. Win win. (Amazing how few proper contact companies there are now. All bots answering the questions you never wanted to ask in the first place. I always have a different question which is why I PHONE!)

    Thanks for this mate.

I don’t suppose you’ve any idea of a decent and fair priced car insurer, I’ve paid £2k this past year because so few were willing to insure my new X5 when I bought it last year.

    These fees are a p I s s take.

I’ve been using Rias for about 10 years now and my insurance has been pretty static. They reward with discounts for safe driving. I think I get a 30% discount currently. 9 years no claims. Other than that I don’t have any more ideas. I’ve got a Suzuki Grand Vitara and a Toyota Rav 4. Paying about £30 each a month.

    Cheers.

In the end I was forced to go with BMW’s own insurance as nobody else was touching it due to the number of Range Rovers and 4x4’s that were getting stolen at that time.

Christ Mick 2K!!! I use Admiral multicast I have a few cars in the family that I insure with them and the premium is way lower than that, albeit none are quite as top end as your X5, car insurance is a rip off tho, something needs to be done to stop premiums just flying away when you get into your second and third years with a provider. The best bargains out there however are for classic cars, for those I use Adrian Flux, rarely pay more than a couple of hundred quid per year per car and for my lad who is 18 insured him on an MGB for a grand.
