    Goal celebration

Perhaps I’m reading too much into it but did anyone else notice how subdued our players were in celebrating the goal at Bournemouth. A couple of players raised their arms almost half-heartedly and few went to congratulate Gordon or Barnes?
Compared to what happened when Joelinton scored at Southampton there was a big difference. What’s up?

I would imagine it's a mix of stuff.

For a start, they'd played shite and knew it.

The lack of new players will no doubt be affecting them, too. Much as they're a tight group, they'll be aware of the need to add players to the group. We sometimes think they're not as bothered as we are (and, in a wider sense, that's correct for all the obvious reasons) but I think this means a lot to them. Partly because of the way Eddie has engendered this team spirit, partly because of professional pride and partly because, as elite athletes, they have a desire to win that drives them in a way maybe it's hard for us to fathom.

They will look at other teams' squads and new players and possibly, like us, being frustrated that we haven't added any 'big' names and they know this will affect our chances this season.

Yeah, I'm definitely reading too much into this.

But...I suspect there's at least an element of truth here...

You’re not reading too much into it, that’s exactly part of the reason,I said the same to my son. They will expect us to be signing quality players to achieve what everybody wants, the fans, the players, the coaches, and that is to win something and finish higher than we did last season. If the players can’t see progression then they will leave, simple as that, and we will be back to square one. Mitchell needs to sort it out before Friday, new signings will give everybody a lift, and after our first 2 games it’s needed. I wish I could feel more optimistic but I’m struggling.
