I took my seven year old grandson Leo with me for the first time to yesterday’s game.

It was only once at the ground I realised the ticket office moron had issued me with tickets for Halfords Lane and not the Brummie Rd as I’d requested, I tried ringing a friend to see if I could use her two spare Brummie season tickets but alas, I couldn’t reach her.

I was slightly stressed to say the least.

The little man piped up, “don’t worry grandad, I’m sure our seats will be fine”…..I was heartened by his comments so in we went.

He had three wishes for the day,

1/ High five Baggie Bird

2/ Albion score and win

3/ Swansea not to score.

I explained this was a high bar to achieve and he looked at me as if I’d landed from Mars!

We walked through the concourse and blow me….Baggie Bird was walking right towards us, Leo offered him a high five and he accepted, that’s the first box ticked!

We get to our excellent seats and end up being level with where Molumby struck his goal from…second box ticked.

65 minutes gone and he reminded me of my genes that are somewhere within him by telling me he was feeling nervous and anxious and thought we might need to leave straight away because he thought Swansea were going to score! 😂😂

Of course, they didn’t so he got all three wishes.

The lad has been blessed with a wonderful temperament as well as ridiculous good looks on top of to have seemingly unbelievable luck.

I wish I could bottle the enthusiasm and wonder of the seven year old boy, it truly is something special.

A shame life ends up getting in the way.
