Old Trafford - a new stadium for the North?

It seems that the current Manchester United owners have very ambitious plans to extend Old Trafford to a massive 100,000
capacity or, build an entirely new stadium. Should this come off, what a brilliant boost it would be for the North...at last.

Imagine, no more long treks down to Wembley for Northern/Midland clubs because we only have one current stadium large enough to host major competitions. Of course the FA will probably have some say on this but, the entire remit falls under the Trafford Council and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority to approve such a scheme(s).

ibs, I first went their in 76 it was a shed then but a lot has changed over the years. Last went in 2016 it looked decent, can't really tell now looking at it on MOTD but it has been up some years.

I think looking at Everton's new ground and City on about extending the Ethiad has prompted Man Utd to follow suit before they get left behind. Having Seb Coe onboard * cough* may carry some clout as to financial help being provided form outside the club.

This will leave our feathered foes from S6 with similarities and a dilemma
    Crumbling stadium
Ground not big enough for their fan base
A club with a worldwide appeal

I can’t see them being very happy with one of their main rivals in Manu taking the limelight here

flour, it's good you've brought Swillsbro up as an example. Just how much longer can that ground stand? it is literally a disgusting place to visit.

Brin, the upstairs at the Lepping Lane end should have been shut years ago, it's shocking.

Maybe the people who are forcing Rotherham United to have safe standing should have a look at it?

Being serious here, the away end with its staircase full of putrid stinking piss is even worse. As for the totally outdated stanchions don't get me started. It's an embarrassment to the City, nothing like The Lane. At least they've kept modern in recent times even replacing the the John Street stand which was a shed but a good shed if you get my drift.
