    The AA rip off

Been a member for over 40 years (the Car people not the booze lot) Had my renewal come and it had increased by over £85 from what I paid last year (a +75% increase) . Had quick check round the other services and found I could get the same cover a lot cheaper. Rang AA today to cancel the auto renewal and explained why (an extortionate increase) Got the usual guff about them being a premier service etc annd then ran a check over what they could offer me. Came straight back with an offer for the same service only £5 more than I paid last year. Do they really take their customers as idiots In thiis day and age who can afford huge increse they were trying to push. I've calmed down a bit now - Rant over !! It pays to complain !!

I’ve just had my renewal amount for my car from BMW Insurance whom I was forced to use last year as nobody else wanted to touch my new X5 at that time.

Last year it was around £2000 and now they want £2500.

I’ll have to try shopping around again, it’s getting ridiculous tbh.

Scoop I just packed in the RAC for the same reason. Realised I don’t need breakdown insurance. I now put a monthly amount in a separate account and in three months I already have enough for a breakdown truck to bring me home where a mechanic I CHOOSE will repair. I have a mobile mechanic friend and I can do what I like now. Haven’t broken down in 10 years, would have had enough saved for countless breakdowns. Save your money.
