    Well done England

Possible end of the road for Carsley. Horrible formation and forced 3 10's / false 9's onto pitch with no striker. All got in each other's way.

On our local park junior teams (some as young as 8) play and boy they are way better organised with all knowing their job in the team. You'd have thought that that shower representing England had never seen each other before, what did they do in training all week play hide and seek?
Who was in goal for us Coco the Clown? A shambles the lot of them.
    Painful to watch.

Folk have spent the last 2 years clamouring to have all our young "stars" start a game. We did that. It didn't work. Carso tried what everybody wanted to see when Safegate was in charge. It didn't work. I don't think we'll be starting without a central striker again.

The Sky commentator commented many a time and oft that neither Saka nor Gordon went past their full back in the first half. Might that just be because we didn't have a striker to cross to?

Now we have this Nations League affair to replace "meaningless" friendlies, any experiments have to be undertaken in a "competitive" game. For some reason the Carsley out, time to go brigade have shown their complete lack of understanding about the game and are guilty of the same instant gratification need they accuse the younger generations of.

The selected XI didn't surprise me. I was, however, surprised at how poor we were at defending and at the mistakes Mr Normally reliable made between the sticks.

How we didn't get a late penalty when Rota went through Madueke in the box is a total mystery.

Though of course Greece did have 3 goals disallowed which perhaps points to it being a total **** up?

Yes, however, as I said earlier, now there's virtually no "friendlies", experiments have to happen in these NL games.

A chance to put it right this evening.
I think we're lacking intelligence in our midfield, it showed under Southgate when we looked clueless on the ball, and it showed the other night.
I don't want Carsley to get embarrassed, hoping for a better effort.

Likewise, I’m actually more bothered that Carsley doesn’t become collateral damage than I am about the game

A bit like Derby, England generallyu struggle to break down a well organised massed defence

Interestingly, it seems that applications for the England manager role closed on August 2nd. Carsley didn't apply.
