    A Frustrating watch.

Quite some vocal discontent around our seats today.

Essentially the continual reluctance to press forward with an early pass began to grate. At times both Swift and Mowatt were interchanging passes alongside the back 4 with both wingers open… so very frustrating.

Positives were Heggem and Styles. I hope McNair’s injury is not serious as it seems to me that Heggem and McNair should be our first choice central defenders. Can Holgate play LB ?

I felt Swift was disappointing as indeed was Grady and Maja initial form is dwindling somewhat.

As mentioned many times, it does seem that we struggle to convert possession into threats in the final third and do not have an alternative?

Starting selection strange - but I sure CC had a plan.

    Thanks for that Prando.
I really never get too impressed by a forward who scores in fits. I know all forwards go through phases of not finding goal scoring form for a while, but that usually stands out more so because they score frequently or regularly. Maja started well but hasn't been able to grow his confidence in front of goal. This was always going to be a reoccurring issue this season again.
Disappointingly, it is proving to be the case. We are becoming very static on tactics now.

You're absolutely right, it was a frustrating watch and the reason is our attacking play is shocking. The stats don't lie, we've scored twice in 6 games at home.

We won a lot of corners on Saturday, which we didn't look like scoring on any. Do we work on them? I saw three different players take a corner from the Brummie/East stand side in the 1st half. Is there a clear plan who takes them, who to aim for?

We took a lot of corners short, where was the benefit in that? I remember one corner ended up back at our Goalkeepers feet. We won free kicks in dangerous areas, but we took them short and ended up then passing it around at the back, this was exactly how Ajayi got injured. We would have stood more chance of scoring had we just thrown it in the middle with Ajayi & Heggem in there. We don't play percentage based football, we play safe football so we're 'in control of the game'.

We got into some dangerous areas at times but then had hardly any players in the box, there is a reluctance to gamble and run in behind. We don't move the ball quickly enough in the final third and the quality of our final ball is really poor. There is no plan B from the manager regardless of what the state of the game is, its just a change of personnel. We continue to play the same way with the same formation.

Corberan has a lot of credit in the bank for the last couple of years, but I am finding his style of football pretty boring. Its okay playing it around the back with no urgency when you're winning. But when you're chasing a goal its slow and ponderous. He needs to adapt and change if he wants to be a top coach, because we're playing pretty cluelessly at the moment from an attacking perspective.

I agree with all of the post. I find the selections under Corberon puzzling - the style of play slow and boring. Sunderland have no cash but they are the opposite - the football is on the front foot by young players and exciting.

Please no comments about our past as it’s not relevant. The present is all you are judged on as Tan Hag found out today!

I’m happy with the team. More than happy with Corberan. I agree with John drury on his recent podcast that we are doing a lot of things right and he can’t understand the “few” who are so negative. We’re in far from a tragic situation but of course some Baggies fans could turn being Premier league champions into a negative. I suppose if you are a glass half empty person maybe there’s no way out of that mindset. It must be terminal.

The Sunderland analogy is spot on. I watched one of their very recent games wherein they were 1-0 up. They continued to press/attack for another goal….quite the reverse of our style of endeavouring to manage the game, defend in numbers, pass around the back and protect the result - as evident against Oxford wherein we conceded a goal!

As a club we're going through a period of transition. At the same time we need a few tweaks to our transitions on the pitch.

New injuries aside there really isn't a lot wrong at the moment beyond individuals over playing at times and making the wrong runs at others.

Our opponents train and have tactical plans of their own and we're trying to play around them. That's because they're often sat so deep we can't go over them or through them.

And as football is played on grass we certainly can't go under them either. I've got a lot of faith in Carlos and won't be throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

As Tony Mowbray said, ‘football is an entertainment business’ fans come to be entertained, players taking players on, front foot football, solid tackles are things that get us of our seats, constantly recycling the ball backwards is the opposite of this, whilst I do get it when it works and there is pleasure in seeing us put a 20 pass move together it’s all to antiseptic.
