So the right wing party is less racist and misogynistic than the left, Labour have never so much as sniffed at a female leader let alone someone black. I’m no Tory voter but it does bring into question some of my perceptions of the Tory party members.
Interesting times ahead, politically, I think. Kemi Badenoch is undoubtedly a smart cookie and hopefully will give Mr Dullness Starmer a torrid time in Parliament, verbally. If she manages to bring the Tory party together and lead them into the next election it will be an incredible achievement, especially if she actually managed to win that election, she will have done the country a great service. I dread to think, though, what state this country will be in after five years of a Labour government.
Bad Enoch is a bit of a strange one. On one hand, she is quite straight talking and says what she think which is refreshing but on the other, whilst I certainly don't disagree with everything she says, she is a typical right of centre Tory who supports the traditional Conservative ideal of "small government" because she is "alright Jack" and peddles the line/lie that anyone can succeed in life if they have the aspiration to do so and work hard.
Unfortunately this is not the case despite what she, Patel, Sunak or, for that matter, Truss would have people believe. Not everyone has the same opportunities in life (which is probably why such Tory politicians of colour get accusations of being "coconuts" bandied at them ?) and some people in any society will need more help than others. That is if you believe in the concept of a society of course, which Maggie famously said did not exist.
Other than not agreeing with many of her political views, I am also totally unconvinced that she has the answers to the country's woes anymore than Labour. What surely isn't in doubt though is that as new Leader of the Opposition she will certainly be giving Starmer a hard time and likely show him up and only further highlight his indecisiveness.
