Says a sh*t load more about the wasteful dissipation of excessive wealth than it does about the real value of art.
Difficult to know what "the real value of art" is CT, particularly if someone is prepared to pay more for the asset.
There are, apparently, 5 more of this piece of art on the market. The value in the work lies not with the banana and tape, but with the artist's certificate which accompanies it.
This reminds me of a great sketch on Monty Python where there was this planet where basic things were at stupid prices.
