    Please Santa

Can we play that Celtic team, that 'played' at Tannadump today, at Dens next month? Maybe a howling gale too! United defended well but omg Celtic were abject. That sort of result is what we fail to get. Celtic 78% possession 17 goal attempts to 2 by United and they get a draw. Similar stats at Ibrox Rangers 72% possession 21 goal attempts to our 5 and we lose by the odd goal.

They believe in their defence? Read our comments during our Rangers game, also they committed more fouls against Celtic than Celtic committed. We committed 3 and one of them was a yellow. I agree Celtic team just showed that their first lone players are a significant step above their backup players.

The wind spoiled that game, but much as I despise them, the unspeakable looked far more robust as a unit than we do. Better mentality without the ball, in my opinion. We are much better on the attack than them , but in such games, its all about holding out. We are mostly poor at that. They will drudge their way through this campaign, we will either hit the jackpot in games or rock bottom, due to errors. I think that they have recruited more appropriately than we have. And nobody hates united more than me. Our manager has to change the balance at the window if he can. We have lost out on Fraser , if he was the replacement for McCowan, due to his injury. And he is still not back. We need better options in front of our defence.

17 goal attempts but only 3 on target, keep picking away at the stats you may find more things that you can twist to suit your agenda

FFS you aren't half touchy over on Dayglo' Mad. No agenda here. Just hoping that Celtic are as poor against us next month. But since you want me to keep picking away I'll expand the stats to include goal attempts on target as you did with Celtic's. Celtic 17 attempts 3 on target v United 2 attempts 2 on target. Rangers 21 attempts 4 on target to our 5 attempts 1 on target. Not much difference in those stats. A great defensive display from both Dundee sides against the Old Firm; only difference Rangers got a goal and Kyogo missed an absolute sitter for Celtic.

3 questions to you. 1) Why do you look for an agenda on our board? 2) What do you expect on a Dundee forum? 3) What are you on our side of 'Mad' havering on about agendas for.

As I started, touchy or what!!

I wonder what the Dundee United crowd figure agenda is? Attendance yesterday reported as 13,662, that's 561 less than the capacity of 14,223

We all have eyes and we all saw the huge number of United fans that went disguised as tangerine seats - a lot, more than 561 of them that's absolutely certain. Assuming the Celtic tickets were sold out, what with all the local Dundee based fans who see them 3 times a season taking up any that might have been left over by supporters' clubs, at a guess I'd say 20% - 25% of the United stand seats were empty. Probably 10,000 maximum there but they report near capacity?

Are they not embarrassed by this type of thing?

That quoted figure is clearly ridiculous. What kind of no-brain publishes a figure like that and wonders why their crowd figures are laughed at.

They're not embarrassed because a fair few of their faithful actually believe the figures quoted. There's a few of them on Dayglo' Mad at the moment bumping on about it, you know the suspects, Shedkarse and company. They are desperate to try to prove their crowd figures are correct and bring up the subject ad infinitum whereas I don't think there is a poster on here who thinks that we have a bigger attending support than they have; we dont! As I and others have pointed out its the scale of their add ons that beggars belief. Quite why they have to get so all worked up about it I don't know. Yes there are comments on here about it, some in response to the nonsense spouted on their forum and some just gobsmacked at the scale of their add ons.

They have a poster who likes to follow his comments with the word FACT! So here are a few facts.

United have, at present, a bigger 'attending' home support than we have. FACT
All top level clubs add on non attending Season Ticket holders. FACT
(United have more STs than us especially at the very cheap promotional add on child end so they will have more to add on).
Club's add on unused complimentary tickets. FACT
(Similar to STs numbers, United dish out far more comps than we do and are quite proud of the fact. Good on them, I wish we did the same for youngsters).
Even taking all of the foregoing into account there was not a crowd at the level quoted at the Celtic game. FACT.

Crowds are very difficult to estimate looking at them on tv or even from one side of the ground to the other. Unless all the unused seats are more or less grouped together a false picture of how many are in a stand results. If a stand is less than half full it is fairly obvious the degree of empty seats. Assuming that empty seats are distributed throughout the stand an 80% filled stand looks full, 70% filled looks almost full and 60% filled looks at least three quarters filled.

So to sum up this rambling post they do the same as other clubs but for whatever reason go over the score listing ludicrous crowd figures that are plain for all to see as false. Shedka seems to think our crowds are similarly over reported but there are none or very few posts on our boards that think the same. In fact there are posts stating the exact opposite with many thinking that we understate our crowds (not a view I take). I would wander over to Dayglo' Mad and post this on there if it weren't for the FACT that I was banned last time for trying to enlighten them.

I simply don't read the nonsense written on that forum, haven't for many years
