    Astle MBE

Nice to see that Dawn Astle has been awarded an MBE in the New Year's honours list for her work on dementia in footballers.

First I have heard of that. Thoroughly deserved. Many congratulations. Work like her’s is so much more merited than the reasons that are given for some of the lauded recipients.

Why would you have heard ?...only the failures (Southgate,Khan etc.) get the headlines

It was on the East Midlands news here in Leicester. The Astle family are from Eastwood, Nottingham. Dawn was also featured on Sky Sports Desk.

Agreed, she deserves the recognition for her work on this.

I'm sure she would rather have still had Jeff with her than any MBE Award

Very well deserved and she should be proud. This is what awards should be given for and not to useless people like Southgate who earned millions and bored people stupid.
