    Zak Jules

Impressed by his eloquent interview, overall demeanour, and more than anything his recent commanding performances. We are solid in the heart of defence now with his good partnership with Odoffin and Raggett wanting to get back in. But we really must resolve the issue of Odoffin's contract. Give this lad whatever he wants. He is a top player destined for the Premier League. Include a sell on clause!

For me it is good PR to formally make offers to those out of contract that we want to keep and hopefully in the future sell on for a transfer fee. Each offer can have a proposed break clause with buy out fee like we did for Viktor. If the club put contracts on the table and the players refuse them or refuse to negioate around them, that is their choice. The contracts can have sections related to which league we are in as well. However, the club can state that offers were made but the players have decided to leave when their current contract expires. It shows the fans that the club is thinking of the future. The current approach means we don't know whether it is the club or the player that has decided time is up, it is just common sense good PR to put the ball firmly in the players court.

Chio was offered a contract long before he left and fans still blame TS/PD for not sorting it out quicker

We lost out on Chieo to an extent Victor. Vaulks Ajayi Barlaser Crooks Rathbone Teihi +? got more back nearer to their value. Best we can do when we sign a player right age with the potential ability to be worth offering them a 3 year contract with the option of a further year. Odoffin at the time of signing him we weren't sure of that. Humphreys I'm not convinced he is.

Same was said about Ben Pringle and then Ben came out in later years saying he never got offered a contract.

I always thought he wanted a new contract at the begining of that season but we didn't offer him one until a few months from the end of the season which he turned down.. did him a big favour though TBH he was playing cr?p so get why the club didn't offer

Someone was telling Porky's then cos this was his comment after he signed for Fulham

Rotherham were keen to keep Pringle, and he admitted they made him an attractive offer. ?They gave me a call and offered me a decent deal, a good deal, but I just felt like I had come to an end,? he revealed.

Bottom line is players have the power these days. Could offer Haks a Haaland type contract but if he doesn't want to sign and stay he won't

If we'd paid Michael Smith what he'd wanted our recent history would have been different. It would have made far better commercial sense as things panned out but our board were blind to the bigger picture
