Romared Match Thoughts Barnsley v Stevenage Borough

Could do with the show back on the road and 3 points , it's pure guess work how it will pan out .

There's about five different Barnsley performances that can play out on any given match day .

The taking our chances and a clean sheet performance is due on the Barnsley carousel but it could be next week and we get the missed opportunities and defensive horror show instead .

    Interesting season .

I am hoping after last saturday that we show we can bounce back , an early goal for us to settle both the team and the crowd would be a real tonic although I am actually quite confident that we will bag the points , we will see .

    Barnsley home league record W4 D5 L4

    Barnsley away league record W8 D1 L4

The answer is simple. Play the same players (as available) at home as away and play the same tactics.

Stevenage have only conceded 8 goals in 10 away games. 4 out of those 10 away games for Stevenage have ended 0-0

It is not just our tactics though is it ? the opposition also change tactics when they are away as well , it is working out what approach on the day, I personally believe we get caught out playing wing backs at home because opposition often play on the counter when our wing backs are caught up the pitch and I would much prefer Collins more cautious approach at home possibly playing 4 4 2 , but fans put the coach under pressure by demanding more attacking play and this leaves us vunerable, when we are away although we still play with wing backs we often play on the counter as the opposition tend to attack us more thus on turning the ball over we can counter with our wing backs, its a balancing act , trying to please the crowd and trying to play the best way to get the result , not easy .

I didn't watch the game this afternoon , I went to watch Dewsbury Moor v Dewsbury Rams in the second round of the Challenge Cup .

Looks like I made a good decision .

    Oh dear .

We were very poor today against a side who had not scored away since I don?t know when and they could and should have put at least three away.

Stevenage played the mans game and were excellent at getting that foot in when it counted so well done to them.

We had no fluency from defence to attack and may I say this is where Mael de Gevigney comes in.

Into the last 19 games now and our coaches still dont know our best starting eleven.

Connell and Nwakali it doesn’t work with both and Connell needs resting but they won’t he’s worth nowt on bench.
