Graham Gouldman -Heart Full Of Songs, Cardiff last night.

When you think of Graham Gouldman , you think of 10cc. What you don?t think of, is how many songs he?s written or co- written for other artists. Songs that were high in the charts for the likes of Wayne Fontana, The Yardbirds, The Hollies, Herman?s Hermits, and American artist Andrew Gold. ( some of them with the help of his dad)He also was responsible in writing many songs for 10cc, in their hey day. We were treated to several last night including the biggest hit of the lot- I?m Not In Love, celebrating its release 50 years ago. The final song of the evening was the perfect send off- Dreadlock Holiday. This sent everyone home on a high ,after a hugely enjoyable evening. As the final song said- I don?t like Cardiff, I love It !! What?s more , the intimate audience loved him, and his band.

I am also a big fan of the Hollies, and love those two songs. Bus Stop being my favourite, of all of their releases. Reminds me of a girl I really liked when I first started work ,when I was just 16, fresh out of school. We used to work in the same building, and both sat together on the bus, almost every day. Unfortunately for me, I was “ too young”, and that went against me, if you know what I mean. The words to that particular song, really relate to our friendship. That was 54 years ago!! Whenever I hear that song I think of her. For the record, I’m also going to see ex- Hollies member,Graham Nash ,here in Cardiff later in the year. Looking forward to that aswell. Hopefully some more stories to go with the songs, just like last night.

Unrequited love, we've all been there.. The Hollies, the Bee gees were always in the background of my development but not my musical choice at the time, but to hear them know evokes a lot of good memories.

A friend of mine saw Graham Nash in Manchester. He said it was a brilliant evening of songs and stories. Sounds like you are in for another great evening, Mal.
