O/T Frankie Dettori Filing For Bankruptcy - After Dispute With HMRC

Flat racing jockey Frankie Dettori, is filing for bankruptcy, after a dispute with
    HMRC over unpaid taxes.
Dettori who rode 287 Group one race winners said, he was saddened & embarrassed
    by this.

The money Dettori has been paid over the years as a class jockey, it would seem he
would had a good accountant, who would have dealt with his tax account.

Unbelievable Elk, but more than a few sportsmen have had problems with taxes in more recent times, Messi being one of them. UTM

Poor Frankie, he feels embarrassed..what about the feelings of the people he owes money to , including those of us who do pay tax.
Probably got a stash in some offshore bank.

Lester Piggott was jailed after failing to declare income to the Inland Revenue of 3.25 millon pounds . The biggest sum on the charge sheet related to an alleged omission of 1,359,726 pounds from additional riding income. Another alleged that for 14 years, from 1971, he omitted income of 1,031,697 pounds from bloodstock operations.

Piggott was convicted of the tax fraud in 1987 and sentenced to three years in prison, but served just over a year.
Piggott had the courage of his convictions and did jail time instead of paying any fine.

I witnessed LP win on Plegdon Green in a selling race at Pontefract almost 40 years ago. On the uphill turn for home Piggott brought the horse through from the back of the field to win quite comfortably.
The horse was then sold on to go jumping.

Good job he wasn't a shirt lifter, he would have rode some winners, with a good whip to the finish line 😉

ELK, talking of shirt lifters. Who was the only 22 stone jockey to ride a Derby winner?

    Lester Piggot's cell mate .....

As for Dettori, not an ounce of sympathy for such a greedy Millionaire. Why is it the rich always want more?
