    Parker-ball. It?s killing me !!

I?ve now been able to see the Clarets twice in the last two weeks, and although we?ve won twice, I am still not convinced by our style of football and the way we approach the games. It?s obviously working to some degree, because of our current league position, but I am not convinced. Both the games at Cardiff, and today were almost identical. Start off excellent, get a couple of goals against poor opposition, then sit back in the second half , In the meantime, show no signs of urgency, and stroke the ball about like we were 10-0 in front, and make the opposition look better than they are. Today were could have more than doubled our score, had we approached the second half right. Apparently that?s not the Parker way of doing things. There was one move which ended up,with the ball going back to Trafford ,from the edge of Swansea penalty area. There is too much safety first approach for me. I?d rather see us increase our goal difference. Frustration is not the word. And yes, I am aware we won away from home with a clean sheet, which is commendable. I stated before, I am struggling to watch this successful style of football. I still am.

We have scored 52 league goals this season from 38 games conceding 11. Sheffield United have scored 52 goals from their 37 fixtures conceding 28. In our last 5 league games however we have managed 13 goals with just 2 conceded and this improved goal scoring form is coming critically in the high pressure run in. We have if only temporarily gone above the Blades and closed to within 2 of Leeds. Parker seems to have tweaked Parkerball at just the right time.

We have gone 25 games unbeaten, we are the only team in the Championship not to have lost a home game, we have the best defensive record in the whole country and since Edwards arrived are scoring goals for fun.

I love you malwayne I really do, but perhaps you should go and support Newport County.

Was talking to a drongo in the pub last week, he said that we are a poor watch and Parker is a rubbish manager and we should be walking this league with the players he has inherited from Kompany.

I slapped him down, told him he was chatting sh!t and that last August, half the team was sold off and that we were literally down to the bones. I then went onto say that Parker has done an amazing job and that for us to be competing for an automatic spot is an amazing achievement.

I won't argue with the fact that at times it has been turgid. I put that down to the fact that he is trying to mold a side capable of promotion, and to do that you need to keep things tight. Imo we have been more entertaining since Edwards signed and that has come with more goals

It comes down to one simple thing, if the opposition don't have the ball they can't score. Boring perhaps, but it's mighty effective and provides a platform to launch.

    We have just launched.

Turgid, boring, uninspiring etc.Yes but we are 2 points from top and unbeaten in 25 and breaking records for clean sheets and goals conceded.I dont like watching it either sometimes but it is very efficient and consistent and which I presume is the way to the target-promotion no matter what which we all want.
We were never going to play the VK style of football after losing all the players last August but Cardy has used what he had available.Credit to him for that and the players for making it so effective.

Quite incredible seeing that most Burnley fans don't rate Flemming and Foster couldn't score in a brothel.

We seem to have genuinely found the knack of scoring goals without a working number nine.

Fair play to Cardy is what I say.

    I feel you pain Mal

We are what I would call efficient- I do think Parker decides when to shut down our attacking threat - your right that we should / could have had 6 goals on Saturday but we chose to go back to possession football in our own half a lot.

With the exception of Sheff Utd in games with the top 8 let?s say we?ve nearly come undone though with the keep ball tactic - Leeds away yea we won and looked good for it to a point then we reverted and were lucky to not lose - Sunderland away ( unfair really as players had all gone ). Leeds at home WTF was that.

WBA away and home draws ( lucky to hold on

However I suppose the point is we didn?t lose them in the main even though some of them were dreadfully boring - I?m undecided with Parker I don?t think he?s a good fit for us even though he?s a gentleman and handles himself well.

The proof will be in the pudding in the next few weeks Mal as we have some tough games coming Sheff Utd the obvious one but Coventry and QPR - Derby and Norwich all tests as finding form.

Of course if we didn?t make the top 2 could we play like we do in the play offs and / final if got there etc.

Imo it?s a big few weeks for Parker as the fan base is defo split over results and how we achieve them

I?ve posted before though if we are lucky enough to get promoted teams in the premiership will be licking their lips watching us Pi$$ around at the back - there maybe trouble ahead.

It?s interesting because we do have points in games where we are dominant and look like we can go on to ruin teams and then we revert to tip tap in our own 18 yard box or last third.

Maybe we?re wrong Mal and that?s how it has to be !
