Do you watch Notts to be entertained?

Since the post 25 points from 30 dip, I have seen more posters working the argument that watching Notts is not entertaining. Clearly, entertainment is a totally subjective construct and different things constitute entertainment, that is a given.

How many posters watch Notts to be entertained?

Personally, I watch Notts because it is Notts and entertainment is a bit of a byproduct. If Notts are playing, at whatever level, I am going. I have never decided to not go because I was not entertained the previous week or do not think I will be entertained.

I have seen teams, players and managers so many levels below what we currently have.

This is also not intended to be any sort of gatekeeping exercise, I am genuinely interested to see how high on peoples list of wants entertainment is.

I think as a fan you want to be entertained as playing low block and winning is dull isnt it really if it was like that all season.

If its a big play off I dont care as long as we win as that is what matters.

Most teams have a Salford away in them !!

It?s a yes from me. For someone that never attends away games, this season has been a tough watch at times. The style of play doesn?t necessarily matter but take Tranmere at homes for example, I didn?t leave the ground with any kind of buzz or excitement.

We've played well with nice attacking football and lost ie, Gillingham & Port Vale. So does achieving points come more important before being entertained or vice versa

I think football and entertainment jointly is an enigma. For a football match to be ?entertaining? you need both teams to have a go IMO.
However, there will be fans at clubs who want there side to win by hook or crook. There are fans who like the tactical intricacies of football.

If you are a ardent fan then you watch your team no matter how they are playing, if you are a floating supporter then I would imagine entertainment is your priority.

If football fans went to games above all else to be entertained, then League Cup, FL Trophy and friendly fixture attendance's would be just as healthy as League games.

This. Strangely I was thinking of starting a thread titled "Have we become boring to watch at Meadow Lane?" I had even done the maths on how many goals we have seen this season at home compared to the last two. When we were promoted from the NL we saw 2.87 goals per game (2.34 for us, 0.53 against), last season we saw an incredible 4.04 goals per game (2.22 for us, 1.82 against), this season so far we have seen 2.05 goals per game (1.31 for us, 0.74 against). I will be there as long as I'm physically capable, but many of the newer fans we've attracted over the last couple of seasons won't. I think they want to see exciting football and goals, and that's been a rarity under Maynard. Attendances have stood up fairly well so far mainly due to us being around the promotion places, but I can't see them being sustained if we carry on producing more of the same.

When all is said and done, I would prefer Notts to win than to be entertaining. I would expect most fans to say the same. However, we are now neither entertaining nor winning regularly. The decline in our performances is stark.

So, upon acceptance of us (regrettably) not winning every week, I would like to be entertained. Unfortunately, we have now resorted to Gareth Southgate-esque buggering about with it at the back with no pace and invention. Pass, pass, pass, no end product. Rinse and repeat.

If I wanted to see that, I could go down to the local park and watch some well-meaning, but ultimately talentless, amateurs. For an investment of circa. ?25 a ticket, I do not think it is unreasonable to expect a little better.

Watching the performance yesterday was a chore and that is a worrying reminder of the bad old days.

You must be Carol Voderman working all that out !

We arent anywhere near as exciting but in fairness to Maynard EVERYBODY moaned about the defence.

I did say last season if you tighten up which we have a trade off will happen as we are now seeing.

We might be better off leaking more goals in order to score more as you say it is possible it attracts more floating fans.
