    Match ratings v Colchester

The magic of Wednesday evaporated on a dry, bobbly pitch that didn?t suit the Notts way. A day for battlers rather than stylists and no stand-out performance for MoM.

Slocombe 6 No bloopers but one heart-in-the mouth moment. Blameless for the goal
    Macari 6 Sound as ever
Bedeau 6 Effort can?t be faulted
Platt 6 Combative again but fear he?s going to miss a game for yellow card tot-up
Tsaroulla 6 No real end product to a decent shift
Palmer 6 Tidy as usual but no killer passes
Hinchy 5 Lacked Abbott?s aggression level but started off as a respectable deputy before fading
Whittaker 5 Chased willingly but little impact in the Colchester box
McGoldrick 6 Plenty of endeavour for no reward
Jatta 5 Rarely got into the right place
Jarvis 6 Our most dangerous attacker but failed to fully test their ?keeper with our best chance. Some might say out-muscled for their goal, I say he was fouled.

Jones 6 Composed and looked up for the challenge
Grant 5 No real effect after coming on
Traore 5 Only fleeting glimpses of any potential

Maynard 6 Perhaps a game to get Edwards involved earlier

Referee 4 Made a present of the Colchester goal
Pitch 4 Behind the goal where the Notts fans were gathered was a hoarding advertising pitch improvement services. Maybe give them a ring.

As anyone seen anything from Traore to suggest he's good enough to replace Jatta.

The lad has started once. In his other games, he has averaged 18 minutes of playing time and had an injury that kept him out for two weeks.

Let us not also forget that he has moved to a new country with all that brings in both a footballing and cultural sense.

Anything we get from Traore this season would be a bonus.

The 'lad' is 25 years old.

To be honest, I would refer to most of the squad as lad. Still stand by all of the points made about Traore.

Fair point, he does appear to have raw pace too.
Hopefully the lad can get some valuable minutes in his preferred position and build up some confidence.

Notts badly missed Abbott, Hinchy poor replacement for him on this performance would rather have seen Edwards.

I'd say Abbott's absence exposed Palmer more than anything else.
