Time to look to next season

Momentum looks firmly with Coventry and Bristol city and fair play to them. Coventry had a poor first half of the season but have come good at the right time (sorry Frank Lampards Coventry). Bristol city have always played decent football, always been good at one touch football and quickly move up the pitch. As I get older I dont expect anything of anybody or any group. Its easier that way. This is my club and has been for three generations. Thanks to Patel we still have a club. Its a good club and a decent team. My thoughts for this season are this. Weve gone from an up and at it military style manager to a laid back Go and enjoy yourselves lads manager and I feel thats completely wiped away a good degree of urgency that served us well previously. (Albeit a lot of draws but even that would have had us still in the top six)

Well said, completely true, I feel disappointed with Mowbray, his reputation of giving youngsters a chance hasn?t really happened, too much reliance on players like Swift, Wallace, Diangana who are on the downward slope. With five games left and a very slim chance of the playoffs I still don?t think he will start with our future players in Diakite, Bany, Dike, next season with plenty of outgoings it should be interesting

I feel that the majority of us agree with you Boingy that we must look to the future by building a much younger squad plus one or two older heads. Having said this, the shackles should now be off and in these last few games we have nothing to lose and should just go for it. Do not worry about losing but go out there and look to win the games. You never know what might happen. As the saying goes, football is a funny old game! What I do not want to see is a side looking to just defend.

Looking at the table today is not good reading.
Saturdays upcoming match feels a little flat to me, even winning the 3 points will have us outside the top 6 and dependent upon other results may not close the gap. If we draw or lose there will no doubt be booing and belief completely gone for the season but I predict a win albeit marginal. If we don't make the playoffs a change of manager will be required as we can't go through the same again next season.

Funny thing is, if we win our next 2 games we're probably right in the mix again. For the record, I can't see that happening but it's still a crazy league where points are dropped and won unexpectedly.

Coventry have got a tricky run in. Middlesboro still have to play Millwall (who are now in the mix) and Coventry on the last game of the season.

If we win 4 and draw 1 we probably make it. But considering the run we're on and the bizarre starting XI's, tactics and subs I just cannot see it happening.

Theres still a chance I know but we just havent shown a consistent winning streak. Drawing yes. Even losing now (3 in a row) I just cant see us winning a few in a row and winning the three games in a row needed to win the play offs to go up. Boro are very similar to us. Beat anyone on the day but not consistent enough.

“bizarre starting XIs, tactics and subs” absolutely spot on 123 buddy. It’s so remarkable that these 3 elements are the priorities I thought TM would immediately address!!

Whilst I’m not one to cry for the Manager’s head, so consider we should stand by Mowbray, it is frustrating to note his apparent reluctance to change things.
