O/T:- Is net zero for carbon emissions really achievable?

On a day when former PM, Sir Tony Blair, said that current net zero policies are 'doomed to fail' and many countries around the world now acknowledging that the Paris Agreement is not realistic to say the least, how far does the current UK government go before pulling the plug or changing tack?

After all, it's Joe Public who is paying for this financially, which little to no proof that it is making any impact.

Are the additional taxes that are levied in the name of 'saving the planet' really just an additional rort by the establishment to bleed normal people of what they have left and another form of redistribution of wealth?

It's bin collection day for me this morning but given the amount of rubbish our home generates is insignificant in the grand scheme of things I have decided to just scatter it over the local area. I laugh at all the other 'virtue-signalling' sheep on our street. They are probably all vaccinated too against things that are eradicated like measles. Idiots.

China has been actively building new coal-fired power plants, with construction starting on 94.5GW in 2024, the highest volume since 2015. While China has pledged to "strictly control" coal power projects, construction has continued despite these pledges. In 2023, China added 47.4GW of coal power capacity, which accounted for two-thirds of the global rise in operating coal power capacity.

Well now we know they are "strictly controlling" it , we can all feel suitably reassured . In a few years time when our children look at the world outside from their candle lit caves, their virtue will only be exceeded by the growth of Chinese GDP

We produce 0.8% of the worlds emission which is down from 2% so we've done our bit. If we get that down to 0% do you think the world world will be saved? No. Miliband seems to think if we get to zero we'll be OK while the rest of the world is burning, the guy is a dangerous fool!!!
