Gutted, personally. Aye, I've seen a couple of badge changes but this is more or less the original one.
Something involving the Castle and the Bridge would be canny, mind.
And maybe a Gregg's pastie?

We've all seen the badge change during out life times. I think that last rebrand was in 1988.
Our current badge is a very detailed and handsome crest indeed. I love it. However, I am happy for change as we're seeing the Adidas kits incorporating the retro badges on 2nd and 3rd strips.
The article has a proposed version. I'd prefer a simplified badge with maybe the Tyne Bridge incorporated or another iconic Geordie Landmark.
Sycamore Grove would have been a nice touch seeing as those two scumbag ba$tard cut that beautiful history tree down. I really hope they get some rough justice when they go inside. Despicable pair of scumbags. However, the tree doesn't really have any relation to the football club itself. Perhaps like the '90s keeper shirt Pav used to wear with the Newcastle skyline the design can reflect the pride of the city.

I would love a steak bake! Been months since I've been back home. As soon as I land, straight to Gregg's the sausage roll, Stake bake and chicken slice. Cram it in my face in the taxi haha!
The current badge is an icon of that great rebirth under Sheppard and Hall. The Keegan and SBR eras. However, it's also the symbol of the Ashley era. So, as much as I love it. It's not a hill I'm gonna die on.
Times they are a changing and we're on our way to world domination. Our badge should be recognisable from Sao Paolo to Singapore.
Simple is better. We'll always call the ground St James' Park, regardless of who the sponsor is in the future. The badge, the crest is tattood on enough Geordie skin that we will never leave it or forget.
I love the Magpie and castle from the early 80s

I liked the 83-88 crest.
Change I would make would be making the NUFC letters castle shaped instead of round.

Think I prefer the current crest with maybe s couple of minor cosmetic adjustments. Dont like the proposal in the article.
Gutted it's gona change to be honest.
However, if we're doing a full re-grow of the club with a new stadium, I can see the sense in doing badge at same time.
Gutted though.
Liverpool have kept their full original crest whilst also introduce the new stripped down Liver Bird design on the shirt and merch.
This is the way I would imagine the club will also go. That way you keep the traditionalist happy but also get the rebrand required to simplify the design as part of the Global Rebrand of the club.
As much as I love the current crest, it's also something that sticks with me as it symbolises 2 relegations, Mike Ashley's reign of poverty and the pure disrespect the club showed to the Geordie nation during those miserable 15 yrs.
We're a phoenix raising from the ashes of that era. When Amanda and the new team moved in, they shipped out Cabbage and ripped down the SD signs.
Whilst I concede the club crest is not a Fatso original. I am positive that the redesign will be sensitive and pay similar homage to the traditions of our history city and respect the history of our famous club.
As I've said before, this is the first time in the clubs history that fanbase will be involved in crafting and shaping the way we as a club, a city & a people are viewed by the world. Isn't that just awesome?
Could you imagine the Sheppards, Halls or Fatso every even considering the fans when changing and altering anything around the club.
We're a million miles from the SD Arena days.
