Great to see.
Is it just me or are they not quite as high profile since Amanda Saveley left?
Newcastle United are set to appoint Grace Williams, from Crystal Palace, as our new director of women's football, as we target promotion to the Women's Super League next season, according to The Athletic.
Williams oversaw Palace?s Championship-winning campaign in 2023-24, her first season in south London as head of women?s football, having joined from Bristol City, where she was general manager for two years. She previously worked for the Welsh FA as the women?s league and club development manager and Watford, as general manager.
Williams will be tasked with helping to build a squad which is capable of emulating Palace by reaching the WSL, but then also eclipsing them by challenging at the very top of women?s domestic football in England.
Newcastle?s current head of women?s football, Su Cumming, is expected to leave her role this summer - retaining a consulting role at Newcastle.
Exciting times at Kingston Park!

Nice to see the proffessionalism is across all aspects of the club.
Women's team did well this season as well.
Great to see.
Is it just me or are they not quite as high profile since Amanda Saveley left?
I don't know - this season hasn't been the same as the previous 2.
In those, it was massive victories every week and straight promotions.
This season has been much more a normal season, losses and 5th place finish.
So less to shout.
Maybe it has been a bit less high profile but I still see alot about them on social media etc.
I know very little about the women's team. I don't have enough time to get involved with them at this time sadly.
However, Wor Lasses rocketed up the leagues with a small amount of care and attention from Amanda, proving the talent and skill is available in the community and we have the recognition to attract some great talent from the upper echelons of the women's game.
However, like the Prem the jump from league 2 to league 1 is a massive challenge. Not so easy.
Bringing in a lady who has women the Title for Palace as recently as she has is probably the most high-profile move the club has made with regard to the women.
I guess she's the female Paul Mitchell. Exciting times for Wor Lasses!
