PL Dash 2024/2025 - Results of fixtures of 25/5/25.

The following set of fixtures was the PL Dash, the final matches of the "regular" PL competition and a stand-alone competition for a trophy in its own right.

Anyone who had taken part in the PL at any point this season was eligible to enter through predicting the scorelines for:

    (P) AFC Bournemouth v Leicester City (2-0)
    (P) Fulham v Manchester City (0-2)
    (P) Ipswich Town v West Ham United (1-3)
    (P) Liverpool v Crystal Palace (1-1)
    (P) Manchester United v Aston Villa (2-0)
    (P) Newcastle United v Everton (0-1)
    (P) Nottingham Forest v Chelsea (0-1)
    (P) Southampton v Arsenal (1-2)
    (P) Tottenham Hotspur v Brighton and Hove Albion (1-4)
    (P) Wolverhampton Wanderers v Brentford (1-1)

    The rules:

In the event of a tie for first place, the eventual Dash winner will be determined to be (in order) the poster with

    1) The most correct outcomes

    followed by

    2) The closest to the total number of goals scored

    followed by

    3) The earliest to post (based on their last valid posting)

    So, here are the results:

Table is in format:- poster/points scored/number of correct outcomes/predicted number of goals/order of posting

    Pacaman / 24 / 2 / 23 / 2
    Tichi1 / 21 / 5 / 31 / 10
    CalverleyBoy / 21 / 3 / 20 / 3
    Alfinyalcabo / 21 / 3 / 30 / 6

    UbiqueLUFC33 / 18 / 6 / 29 / 4
    MORRIM / 18 / 4 / 29 / 11
    Cherrypie7 / 15 / 5 / 23 / 14
    Hgatenasty / 15 / 5 / 30 / 5
    Ozleeds / 15 / 3 / 24 / 1
    Ozwhites / 15 / 3 / 22 / 9
    Monaco_Totty / 15 / 3 / 30 / 7
    Dalek_Sec / 12 / 4 / 23 / 15
    Sniffer999 / 12 / 2 / 21 / 12
    Silentman / 12 / 2 / 28 / 8
    Orgoner / 9 / 3 / 24 / 16
    Lufcjohn88 / 9 / 3 / 35 / 13

There were sixty points up for grabs from the final ten Premier League games and it seems to me as if fewer of the real teams took these fixtures seriously this season (possibly sour grapes on my part - see above!).

The clear winner was Pacaman (EExxxxxOOE) with a relatively modest (but hard earned!) 24 points out of the sixty available.

There was an initial three-way tie for second spot between Alf (OOOxxxxExE), Calverley (EExxxxOOOx) and Tichi1 (OOxOxxxOOE), but where did they finally finish?

For second through fourth the final Dash rankings were determined by:

    1) The most correct outcomes

Alf (three outcomes, two exact). Calverley (three outcomes, two exact). Tichi1 (five outcomes, one exact).

    Tichi1 is placed second

No discrimination between thrid and fourth, so...

    2) The closest to the total number of goals scored (24)

Alf (30 goals). Calverley (20 goals).

Calverley sneaks the "official" third Dash place over Alf (not entirely unlike the Championship this season?). Bragging rights only, I'm afraid!

Pacaman is the official PL 2024/2025 Dash winner

I'll shortly be sending Pacaman a PM so that my trophy gnomes can start work handtooling his thoroughly impressive trophy (not entirely like the UEFA Conference League offering). With luck (and an address to send it to!), it will be in pride of place in Pacaman's extensive trophy cabinet in a few weeks!

Many thanks to those of you who took the time to bother to enter and, assuming there's enough interest, the 23rd version of the PL competition (with this corresponding Dash at the end) should start again later this year!

    All the best! Stay safe!

Quite unusual for there to be only two home wins on the final day of the season (especially as there were six away wins).

I guess the only meaningful fixtures involved the CL qualification places and some of those ended up being strange games with a couple of teams being either very lucky (Newcastle) or very unlucky (Villa) with how things turned out.

That said, they had 37 other games to seal their fate, so the final table probably doesn?t lie.

I feel like Sheffield or ManU - saw a brilliant post about the latter, apparently they are planting spuds at Old Trafford so they will have something to lift next May

In hindsight like you said not much to play for ig you look mainly all draws if you stuck to you 0 0 s would have done well.
