    Pif - fifa

Newcastle United Owners, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, have entered into a long-term partnership with FIFA.

It will begin with PIF acting as a main sponsor of the Club World Cup.

The longer-term partnership will focus on grassroots development.

This can only benefit us in the medium term as well I reckon.

The World Club Championship prize money is being funded/bankrolled by the Dazn global contract.

PiF bought a 1bil USD stake in Dazn. Despite what the MSM anti-Newcastle, Anti-Saudi bigots spinning conspiracy the reason Saudi invested in Dazn is 2 fold.

1 - Saudi wants to become the home of combat sport, practically buying the world of boxing. There is talk that they will by all the organisations, WBC, IBO, WBA, WBO etc and unify them. They want to control the media contact and global broadcast to generate revenue from their investment

2 - Gives Saudi a competing platform to BeIN sport owned and operated by the Qatari Government. Saudi have tired to negotiate the purchase of a stake in BeIN. I'm not sure how care that got but the Qatari's don't like to share their toys. BeIN used to be Al Jazeera sport before they split off from the state funded News Organisation. They are a subscription model business like sky sports now. Employers of Gorilla Mitts still for some reason. They are currently going through another rebrand to TOD (TV on Demand) but it isn't going too well. Subscribers only really want to Premier League and La Liga, not the movie and entertainment packages.

Not sure where it got to but when Saudi was presented with the Dazn opportunity they took it.

The partnership with FIFA was a happy bonus and also strengtened their hand for the '34 world cup.

Smart business regardless of what the Sour grape suckers from fleet street might have to say
