He's got a plan , he saved our club from going under which we would have under Lai.
He has put his hand in his pocket.
He communicates with us like no other owner has .
I'm glad we have him as our owner .
Pretty much sums it up for me Soulman. I also like the fact that he has medium-long term goals but seems very realistic /pragmatic in terms of achieving them.
Tbh, a lot of what he says in this letter only repeats what he has spoken about previously-developing the women's team and Academy, improving facilities, building upon the achievements of the Albion Foundation, working more within the local community, forging links with new business partners and aiming to raise the profile of the club further afield. The aims are clearly not just restricted to what happens on the pitch or to squad recruitment but to also increase revenue through exploring other markets. Only through success in this and being able to build a sound business base will more funding then be made available to help achieve what we need in terms of recruitment which should then be reflected in performance in the league/ promotion opportunities. Makes sense to me.
Not overtly fond of some American business models/practices but when you look at what has happened at Wrexham (OK, Ryan Reynolds is Canadian) or the intent shown for Blues, these show some similarities to Shilen's approach and are certainly an improvement on the experiences of recent Chinese ownership!
The realities of P&S aren’t going away just yet, and its existence will necessarily govern our approach to the summer. Our three-year P&S rolling average calculation will no longer include the slight profit of 22/23, leaving us with a challenge similar in magnitude to last year’s. Every summer will require us to be prepared for the departure of players and the recruitment of well-vetted talents to succeed them; this summer, we will once again have to be pragmatic,
Possible departure of some of our more talented players....Fellows perhaps?
The open letter contained a lot of very carefully chosen words, and I agree a lot has been stated before, it almost needed a summary section at the end.
The most important section I felt is what is quoted above from Dubbag which states the P&S situation.
Seems we will be selling at the right price
Sadly think you are both correct and that the wording is preparing us for Tom to be sold on, though I am sure that the club will try to ensure that any move will be at a price to our benefit. Really do not want Fellows to leave as I believe that he can only get better and we will greatly miss the number of assists he contributes. He will be very difficult to replace IMHO-and there is also the fact that he came up through the academy, starting with us with the under 10s. Given the current P&S situation, now is likely not the time but it would be nice to think that in the not too distant future any such "gems" that come up through our youth system we would be able to keep hold of rather than having to sell them on. (I can dream)
Safe hands. Not a lover of fancy business hype but the club is in a good place.
