Has Ashley taken over the club again

Dominic Calvert-Lewin in talks to join Newcastle United
This is a joke no nightmare what is going on will I wake up from this and find that we are a club with the richest owners in the world and in the champions league and holders of the Carabao cup or is the fat slug still in charge

Calvert Lewin will be back up striker.. there are far more important positions to fill using funds, he just takes over the Wilson role but I hope his injuries are behind him

I totally get the DCL to replace Wilson idea, I really do......

But even for a 3rd string we could do better. I suggested that Greek lad for a start. DCL would never challenge to be no 2 or 1. I personally would like to see all 3 or 4 forwards on the books challenge to be number the main man.

    Hope it doesn't happen.

Lots of factors, and this is still just speculation so let’s not get too worked up…

    How long is the contract?
What is the pay structure… X amount per week plus Y amount each game he is fit to play in?

A fit DCL is a good player, bit like Wilson, however he is only 28 (turned that this March) so he’s a lot younger.

Can Bunce’s medical team keep him fit?

If this was a 3 year (tops) deal that let’s us give Osula time to develop and opportunities then it’s not a bad thing, especially if the medical team think they have a better chance of keeping him fit and available… he’s got a long history of hamstring injuries… if we can manage that with S&C work, keep him fit, get him sharp…then he has the ability to be a very good second choice striker

As Tut said too, if this means we can spend money elsewhere then i’m all for that… we need depth, and strikers that most seem to only want to accept are a lot of money to buy.

I’m not gonna be setting off any fireworks if we sign the guy, but there’s a lot of reasons in the Pro column around this idea.

Guess it depends on signing bonus and wages. Think he was in 100k pw at Everton - would need to take way less than that.

Personally I thjnk Man Yoo would be a better fit. They need an experienced no 9 and could probably pay more wages and be closer to where he lives now.

DCL's scoring record is piss poor. He could end up getting in the way of Osula's progression.

I think everyone knows exactly how little I think of DCL.

He is woeful. The injuries were one thing but last season he was fit and played in 26 game (7 as sub) and scored just 3 goals.

I don't know what Eddie Howe seeing in this guy. Like Slomanic the Donkey (Dom Solanke) another absolute dud Howe signed for Bournemouth & IMO lead to them getting relegated and his eventual sacking from the South Coast team, this is probably my only criticism of Eddie Howe.

Whilst I understand that we need cover for Isak. Osula is clearly a better option up top to replace Alex than this empty shirt.

DCL would be 3rd choice behind Will if he comes in. If it's a pay as you play deal on about ?50-60k a week with big performance bonuses then I would take it begrudgingly.

If they end up giving his hack anything north of ?90k a week, I will be very annoyed.

I would just like to add it looks like a total lack of ambition why not get someone that has scored a hat full of goals in a lower division last year and give them a go

We should of tried to sign Ivan Toney on loan, or Jhon Duran who has just joined Fenebache on loan

I hope they don't bring in DCL, I don't rate him !!!! So far this window is yet to deliver, and it does have a Mike Ashley 'DESPERATION' feel about it !!!
