Bale looking to do a Wrexham with Cardiff

Gareth Bale and his fellow consortium want to take over full ownership of Cardiff city and hopefully get them to the Premier League. This is the second bid they have now made for Cardiff.

As tempting as 40 Million pounds may sound to Vincent Tan, this has all the similar makings as the current scenario at Sheff Weds where, both owners over the years and put in approx 200 Million but are demanding more than 40 Million.

Will Tan accept this offer and cut his losses unlike Chansiri, who looks like he wants to drive Weds out of business rather than take an allegedly 40 million pound offer for his club? If Tan takes the money, will we be seeing another Wrexham unfold?

Do a Wrexham? Apart from them being Welsh how is their situation in any way similar to Wrexham's? A club that was in the PL 7 years ago, plays in a National stadium, has an owner who has spent over 200M and is being bought for 40M by a consortium led by a former footballer. Versus a club that had been out if the football league for 10 years, played in a replica of Millmoor, didn't have a pot to piss in and was bought by two Hollywood stars for 2M who knew bugger all about football.

Not really comparing apples to apples Brin

    However, Snoop Dogg and Swansea?

Apologies being so late coming back to this. What I meant was a low lying Welsh side in Cardiff and having just been relegated been brought back to life and back up at least to the higher positions of the Championship. I'm aware the money is nowhere near what the US duo have put in so far at Wrexham.

As for football comparison though, the way the Wrexham duo have gone about sponsorship etc and the personal money they are ploughing in, they may well pass Cardiff in actual terms of being the better Welsh team in the future, if they keep on delivering what they have currently done. Championship football already and where are Cardiff now?

Not bad for 3 years and 3 promotions along the way......

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney initially purchased Wrexham AFC for approximately ?2 million in 2021. By the end of June 2024, their total funding to the club had reached ?14.1 million, with ?10.7 million of that recorded as debt on Wrexham's balance sheet.

    Here's a more detailed breakdown:
    Initial Purchase:
The actors bought the club from the Wrexham Supporters Trust for a nominal fee, with the understanding they would invest at least 2 million.
    Early Funding:
Within their first five months, they provided 2.2 million in equity funding.
    Promotion Funding:
By the time Wrexham secured promotion from the National League, their direct funding had reached over ?12 million.
    Debt:
By the end of June 2023, Wrexham owed their owners 9.0 million in interest-bearing loans.
    Total Investment:
As of June 2024, the total funding from the owners was 14.1 million.
    Valuation Increase:
Following their promotion to the Championship, Wrexham's valuation has reportedly risen to 150 million, according to Kieran Maguire from BBC Sport.

Wonder if they want to nip o'er and buy Tony out once they sell Wrexham on at a massive profit?
