    Labour Government

It's not often that I will bring up politics up in a conversation nevermind start a thread about it but it got mentioned to me today that Labour had been in power for a year now,as somebody who only keeps one eye on the news it seems to me that Starmer seems to be having a bit of a hard time of it what with his plans for the benefit reform being scuppered by his own party,he's had to do a couple of other high profile U - turns in his first year and I suspect that the pressure may be getting to him, what's your thoughts griff, will he still be there this time next year, can he keep sacking people who speak against him or will the peasants revolt, will the ultimate winner out of the Labour fall out be Farage?

Last week's hot weather seems to have got to me to even ask

Yeah, he’ll still be there this time next year, though mistakes have been made, but he’s struggled to deal with the crap left by the Tories. Don’t forget the legacy he was left with. a black hole in the finances, payments to be made to the Post Office lot, those affected by the bad blood scandal and now we learn another ?8 billion for the Afghan situation which no one was allowed to mention. The pensioners winter fuel cut was supposed to kill hundreds but not a single case hit the press that I look at. No error there and charity begins at home. If pensioners really do need it and they have kids then why don’t they help instead of the Government? For anyone falling through the cracks there’s other welfare payments. Private schools was a bit of an error but only for the SEND element. Any school with more than two-thirds SEND pupils should be VAT exempt, like charities. The others should be subject to VAT like all other items. It’s also no surprise that he has back-bench rebellions. Labour is a broad church and no party has had so many MPs in decades.

Much right wing hot air on X from Tories and Reform who are trying to change the narrative but they’re basically irrelevant for another 4 years. Anyway, 12 months isn’t enough to turn around the disaster that he inherited. He’ll no doubt reshuffle at some point soon and sail on for another 12 months.

Tories left things in a miss is a bit severe? countries been like that for many years,,
    Labour
Caving into union pressure and giving out huge pay rises didn?t help nor did raising Employer NI payments significantly to the point the UK has the highest number of unemployed for 4 years,
Let us be honest, they are both useless but what is the alternative without a looney party

Don’t agree with voting at 16. They can’t drive, get a mortgage, most are totally dependent on parents and are too easily swayed by peer groups. Big mistake.
