    Lionesses

Womens football has been around quite a while. A lot longer than the recent surge. I knew a woman who played for an England team in the 1960s, which they had to practically fund themselves back then. I cant help but notice the mentality in the womens team and maybe because theyve had to battle so long to be noticed, battle against the ridicule from men they have a belief that has been missing in the mens game. Its a belief born on having to battle from the off. No sitting back for them. A Brazilian footballer was asked why are there so many fantastic footballers in Brazil? The answer was because it is a way out of poverty. Motivation right there. The English mens team doesnt have the same motivation. Too many are too comfortable whether they win or lose. We can learn a lot from the womens team and the boys from Brazil.

Totally agree! More desire, pride and team work. From a supporters point of view - a carnival experience without the p ricks!

Just back from taking my 2 granddaugthers and their mate up to see the Lionesses parade. Didn't get anywhere near a look but it was fantastic to be amongst so many happy folk. Won't be forgotten

Good for you! Girls football will go from strength to strength. Bet there were no idiots at the parade which spoils men?s football!

Heather small was a treat, can’t believes she’s 60. Can’t be many who look or sound better at 60. Toward the end of the celebration on bbc iPlayer.
