    Penalty shootouts

Have we ever won a significant penalty shootout in our history? I can't think of one beyond quarter finals against teams we should have beat, maybe Hibs away quarter finals under McNamara, year we lost to Celtic 0-2 In final, One under golac against Falkirk in league cup, again amounted to a semi defeat by Hibs. I'm not counting bonus point penalty shoot outs in league cup.

Lost to rangers league cup final, Celtic league cup semi final when we scored something like 12 and still got beat, ridiculous play of pen defeat, Hibs sc SF when they had the fat guy In Goals, rapid, I can't think of any other significant. We even lost to Dundee in a league cup match on penalties, and I'm sure the diddy challenge cup 95.

Hibs at Easter road was the big one I saw us win and that was a big one

Sudden death 7-6, two excellent saves from Rado, what a night

Other than that some bonus point wins (Dens, McDiarmid, Gayfield) spring to mind

We don't have them often though with the same team and players to really pinpoint anything

Example, Celtic at Hampden in 2009 , 0-0 aet, lose 11-10, our pens were great, wasn't bottle

Needs a keeper to pull it out the bag usually

We have missed the first pen though a couple times it puts you on the back foot, Thurs night our pens were good, just needed Kuch to read the takers better, I thought he could have done better

The worst one was the play off against St Mirren where Neilson punched the air taking 10 man St Mirren to penalties and was confident with penalties as they had been 'practicing'. What followed was the most inept of penalty shoot outs. Neilson should have walked after playing for penalties.

The Rapid one was night and day. They were faultless. It wasn't a case of us following apart. The Hampden one against Rangers was a sore one considering how well we played that day and should have won the cup. The bizarre one was the Celtic semi with Willo Flood missing the decisive penalty his last kick for United before signing for Celtic (not suggesting he missed deliberately).

Neilson was terrible thinking holding on and getting penalties is the way to progress. Good player for us up to a point. His sending off in the cup game was bad. Guess his entertaining football has kept him in a job ever since...............
