51’ Kenzhebek hits the bar as Kazakhstan dominate start of second-half. Wales can’t cope with the high-press

    FT: 0-1
Kazakhstan 11 shots to 6 unlucky not to score as they dominated the second-half.
A 95’ free kick for a foul by Cabango just outside the penalty area hits the bar and the full-time whistle goes.
We looked wide open at times and it was a poor defensive display from Wales, and they can consider themselves lucky to come away with the three points. Still a win is a win, all that matters are the three points.
Another factor was playing on an artificial pitch, which favoured the home team, who were not used to how the ball plays on Astro turf.

A tough watch for Wales fans that.
After one Championship appearance and six games in League One, 19 year old Cardiff centre-back Dylan Lawlor was surprisingly preferred to Swansea captain Ben Cabango due to Rodon’s absence and made an impressive Wales debut in the Kazakhstan match.
The 25 year old right sided centre-back Cabango, with 12 Welsh caps and 173 Championship appearances behind him, came on for left sided centre back Mepham in the 86th minute.

Besides Joe Rodon, Wales were also hampered today with injuries to Danny Ward, Ethan Ampadu, Connor Roberts, Jay DaSilva and Nathan Broadhead. Aaron Ramsey also out due to lack of game time, making a total of seven players.

    World ranking: Wales 31 - Kazakhstan 114
83 places separated these sides but it certainly didn’t look like it second-half as Kazakhstan gave Wales a fright on the artificial pitch with their relentless pressure. A high press and opening them up on the flanks they hit the bar twice and had several shots wide.
Luck was with injury hit Wales though and they go top of the group.

More than 1100 Welsh fans made the 6,000 mile round trip, a commendable following.
