King and Queen 'appalled and saddened by dreadful antisemitic terrorist attack'
The King has just issued a statement following the terror attack on the Hanukah celebration on Bondi beach in Sydney, Australia.

And no surprise who the scum were who committed such an appalling act!

An appalling attack leaving 15 dead and 40 in hospital. As elsewhere in the world, the Australian Jewish community has felt increasingly under threat due to a rise in anti-Semitism largely brought on by anger at Israel's actions in Gaza and the West Bank. Such heinous attacks can never be justified but when will people realise that being Jewish does not equate to being a right-wing Zionist anymore than being Muslim means that someone is an Islamic extremist?

Not sure exactly who the perpetrators were other than that they were a 50 year old father (shot and killed) and his 24 old son (in hospital). As with the US, one of the issues was the ease of legal access to several guns that both had. Seems like there are calls to further restrict gun ownership now.

Meanwhile, NSW police are praising the bravery of police, first responders and "ordinary Australians"-one of whom, 43 year old Ahmed all Ahmed, managed to disarm one of the attackers despite gun shot wounds to himself.

That is the usual narrative they wheel out.....strange how with in two days of the attack on Israel's southern border they were already organising mass demonstration globally to inter nationalise the Intifada on behalf of Muslim extremists. Difficult times.

Very true Dubbs! I am one of those critical of Netanyahu and his actions in Gaza , but unlike too many others who have demonstrated against it and been vocal in their support of Palestine, I also haven't forgotten that the initiation of this was the heinous October attack by Hamas. Very rarely in life is anything really black and white.

I personally loathe both Islamic extremists (who preach the destruction of Israel) and right wing Zionists (who have ramped up their efforts to illegally take land off Palestinians). Difficult times indeed.😞

NSW police have recently identified the shooters as Sajid Akram who arrived in Australia in the late 1990s on a student visa and his Australian born son, Naveed. Both are said to have allied themselves with ISIS and the attack motivated by extremist ideology.

Alongside any increasing security threats from Russia or China, the threat from Islamic extremism has not gone away for Western nations. In the light of this attack perhaps governments -including our own-will put more resources into helping to prevent further such terror attacks, give the security services more powers to assist them in this and help better protect Jewish communities. I think that they should be equally mindful, however, that attacks like this one in Bondi will also give far-right activists the excuse to attack mosques and Muslim communities.

Good to see that Muslim communities in Australia have quickly spoken out to condemn the shootings-something that some of those in the UK were far to slow to do in this country after previous attacks here. Mainstream religions of any stripe should all be speaking out against any form of extremism and hatred.

I agree! The only protection for our citizens are for any illegals to be held in holding camps so they can't roam the streets. Five young school girls have been raped in the last month by Afghans. Lets face it females in some countries are treated like dirt so you can't allow free roaming. Even better - stop the boats and deport all those who have entered illegally as the cost can't be sustained. I have far more compassion for our homeless who are our citizens who are in the freezing cold and often starving. We really are a soft touch and a bunch of wet lettuces FFS!

As for the the chap who took the gun off the killer and pointed it at him - it's a pity he didn't pump the scum bag full of bullets as he got up and started firing again from the bridge again.

As for Muslim communities in the UK the Police bow to them - look no further than the football match at Villa where the Dutch Police did not agree with the intelligence to ban the travelling fans and their supporters have just been in Germany are this passed with no serious incident. Yes we are a multi cultural country but it's a christian country, and anybody entering should adapt to our culture and way of life. I lived in Spain for many years, and adapted to the Spanish way of life and culture and was fluent in their language within 2 years. As it should be.
