    MickeyD

There are rumours, as there often are, that MickeyD needs an urgent operation on his knee. That wouldn't be a surprise as we can all see he is playing through the pain barrier. The other half of this rumour, though, is that should he have the surgery, it will be career-ending. It is just a rumour and so we could just ignore it and let it go the way of all rumours, particularly in this age of social media. However, what about if it were, remotely, true. It would mean, at least, that we've got him for only for the remaining 3rd of the season. What's more, what about the man himself? He clearly wants to keep playing so how would he cope having to be forced to give up the game he loves? The most obvious option is for him to go into management. After all, I believe he's got some badges and is coaching at the club, already.
But what of his loss to the club. There's no denying that he is of enormous importance to the team, even though he's not quite the player he was when he arrived.
Are the Alex already looking out for 2 CHs for next season? There can't be anyone of his calibre around that the Alex could afford. They can't be that lucky, twice!

He is a big asset to the club and the team but we can see he is struggling with his knee when tackling a striker and often loses that challenge, not due to his ability but to his knees..

I wonder if we could install him as the new manager or assistant manager as he talks well and knows the game inside out. Other clubs would clearly come after him in that regard and we have a management team that is failing and so its a good prospect imo at least...

He could even be the player/manager!

It won't happen but I would give him the job in a heartbeat. I think on and off the pitch he is one in a million and a really intelligent guy. I do think that you might still be disappointed though MSB because I can't see him putting six or seven forwards on the pitch either!

Things need to change at a managerial and coaching level but that doesn?t have to be LB so moving someone on whose ideas we have exhausted and installing Mickey would be a good shout. And he has top level coaching qualifications already so would be highly committed. I had not heard that rumour but it could be true. He is playing through considerable pain so why would he risk his future (albeit limited anyway at his age) playing career to play on. If this is his last season you can see why, nothing to lose. Unfortunately that rumour does seem to add up.
