On a more serious note. It is rather interesting to me that these "big six" coaching jobs offer such career wrecking fascination. I understand the money will better and if you seek fawning and adulation this is definitely the place to coach. However, it does seem the deck is stacked against someone that lacks "hero status" with the club. Generally as a player. Look at the wreckage from these coaches careers at these clubs.

I do give Arsenal credit in this area. Arteta was no great shakes the first couple of years and they stuck with him. It's paid off, along with a boatload of cash on signings. Pep is a primaddona perfect for the big clubs but you better give him an unilimited budget or he'll "retire". Taking the spurs, chelsea, scum job is a fools errand unless you have club hero status like Carrick does.

Not sure they coach a "new coaches" bounce. They really are not that good...even when healthy.

Just means they'll have new manager syndrome when we play them, or at stand in bloke trying to prove a point.

They really are not good. However, that game in May might be really significant.

Most of Spud's past manager appointments are average at best and others very bad appointments. The better ones will and have recovered their careers: Conte, Stellini both at Napoli, Nuno has improved West Ham, Jose at Benfica... their styles didn't suit the supporters (usually the case as they think have some right to brilliant relentless football) Frank was in the wrong place at wrong time, a disaster with signings and injuries. A well run club financially but qualifying for the European Cup they should have been able to attract better signings
