    Sibbald

I think I heard that he?s out of contract at end of season.

Definitely one of our better players over last few seasons

I?d sign him up or is the player trading model not retaining any slightly older players ?!?

Think he's signed a pre contract at Falkirk if you believe elsewhere, he is a Falkirk fan so makes sense in a way but disappointing as he's definitely worth another two year deal as an important squad member and older head

Embarrassing behaviour yesterday. We still pay his f*cking wages.

It is important to have experienced players in the squad. Years ago we had Redford who played a good role in the team. I think Jonsson was an older head and although injured a lot when he played he was a tremendous player. Banks was another player coming along at Tannadice with plenty of experience who played well when called upon and a good coach also.

Look at the centre-halves we have this season. Esselink is the oldest but has been bombed out as playing in a three doesn't work for him. Earlier in the season from Goodwin you got he will be the organiser in the centre with Iovu and KK getting told where to be. That has been a complete shambles and from the start of the season to now Esselink looks a totally different player, bereft of confidence.

The player trading model has seen us sign players who have not done well for United but we have got money for them. One of the best players I've seen grace Scottish football was signed by Celtic at the age of 33, Lubomir Moravcik. Seeing games out, scoring goals and defending well is simple when you have that bit of experience in your team imo.

It is disappointing as he is a cracking player right now

I do think the club might be too focussed on the possible sell on rather than what the team needs. Sibbald has been here a few years and we know he can deliver something decent

100% should be offering him a new deal. Been a very consistent player for us every season hes played.

I remember when the club posted a video clip of the players gathering at St Andrews for preseason. Everyone was happy and smiling but Sibbald looked like he didn't want to be there, not a flicker of emotion or a smile. I thought at the time he doesn't want to be there.
I dismissed it at the time as just a quiet personality but maybe there was more to it than I realised.

Why would he want to stay when the manager hangs him out to dry playing him in a midfield two that's outnumbered every week? Making him look like a lesser player than he is?
But not celebrating yesterday, honestly FO with that Craig.

Good luck to the fella, he's a Falkirk fan, I just hope the new additions improve the squad.

I remember that video, but my interpretation of it was he is just a shy/introvert guy, he doesn't strike me as someone that is comfortable in front of camera or seeks the limelight. By all accounts he was one of our best players yesterday, and he scored, surely that's all that matters? I think it's a bit daft when players don't celebrate scoring against their former clubs, but their prerogative. Read someone on another message board saying he shouldn't play against Falkirk in the cup cause of reported pre-contract. Crazy stuff. Might have done himself a favour not scoring!

That was me and I stand by what I said on Tek, I want players who want to be here wearing the shirt not ones who have already found pastures new. If he plays and he's shyte and we get pumped out you'll agree with me then.

Obviously we still need to win on Tuesday for any of this to matter of course because if we don't then we're unlikely to face Falkirk again this season.
