    Signings 25/26 season.

Well MARP, you’ve let me down. More sun in Derbyshire than here this afternoon so here goes with a new thread, looking at JE’s signings to date. Just my opinion of course and I think I’ve got them all so, marks out of 10 and in no particular order.

Agyemang 8. Work in progress but lived up to expectation.
Brereton Diaz 7. A bit in and out, a mix of spectacular and frustrating.
Morris. 7. Doubtless would have been higher without the injury.
Brewster 6. Huge potential but limited availability.
Clark 7. More great potential. Contributed a lot but a tad lightweight.
Johnston 4. Think he’ll be worthwhile once fit again.
Szmodics 4. Flashes of brilliance but a tendency to disappear.
Travis 3. Too impetuous and a major disappointment so far.
Sanderson 7. Slotted in really well after a questionable start.
Ozoh 5. Not really recaptured his early season form of last season.
Weimann 3. Signed and sold…says it all really.
Batth 6. Undeniably brave. Intelligent and a good stand in leader.
Fraulo 5. Not really established himself yet.
O’Donnell 8. Rare for a third choice keeper to get a mention but he’s been excellent when called upon.
Banel 6. Hardly seen him. Looks a useful signing but still unproven.
Murkin 8. Impressive. Could yet prove to be the signing of the season.

Verdict. John Eustace has done very well in the transfer market. Travis and Ozoh - even though I really like the latter - have been the biggest disappointments imo, but overall he has signed some excellent players and got rid of some proverbial ‘dead wood’ along with those who couldn’t quite command a first team place. Assuming we don’t go up, a lot of next season’s ‘building blocks’ are already in place ready for more strengthening.

    Agyemang 7 With 9 potential
Brereton Diaz 7, I’d have scored him 5 at Christmas, only redeemed by the shifts he put in. Much improved
Morris. 7. Would have been 9 before the injury, currently 2, he’s been rushed back
    Brewster 6.exciting cameos
Clark 7. Potential 8 if played in position
Johnston n/a but he’d better show he’s clearly better than Ward or he’ll get a 4
Szmodics 4. Flashes of comptence but a tendency to disappear.
Travis 3. a major disappointment so far - Eustaces biggest mistake on current form, as I said yesterday too good to drop, too bad to be any use. And If he’s just there for his captaincy, Brian Close he ain’t
Sanderson 6 good job he has Bald Esgle 2 alongside him
Ozoh 6 not the player we saw briefly last year although if fot ld start him
    Weimann 4 not missing him
Batth 6. Solid citizen doing the role he was signed for I guess
Fraulo 6 Too Clark-lite for my liking
O’Donnell 9 on recent limited showing
Banel 6. Needs more minutes to impress
Murkin 8. S step up at left back, like his style (apart from his socks!)

Also kudos for outgoings including two we would currently be lumbered with, squad wise, who are now crocked - Wilson, Blackett Taylor

Doesn’t make you wrong. I know at least three season ticket holders - who therefore see more of him ‘live’ than me - who’d agree with you. I just don’t ‘get’ what he brings (yet) but it’s only football and all just opinion.

That is because I am off to Derby tomorrow, rA. Yesterday and today 16 in Amsterdam, same tomorrow in Derby. Go to Fuerte at the same time as me.

    Agyemang 7 With 9 potential
Brereton Diaz 7, I?’d have scored him 4 at Christmas, does work hard
Morris. 7. Would have been 9 before the injury, currently 2
Brewster 6. as the Americans might say, a decent pinch hitter
Clark 7. Potential 8 if played in position as he's not a DM
Johnston a 2 thus far. Has potential but so did Sibs... not even making match day squads at Bradford...
Szmodics 6. I'd prefer to see him in a pinch hitter role than as a replacement for Clark
Travis 4. Not involved at Blackburn, not match fit when he got here. Then an injury after which he's, IMO, been simply trying too hard and failing. 1 good game and 3 or 4 half games where we've seen what he can do. Calm down young man.
Sanderson 6. First few start he was a 4 but he's grown into a steady 7
Ozoh 6 not the player we saw briefly last year. Might that be down to him not getting a run in the side?
    Weimann 4 not missing him
Batth 6. Good for a 4th choice CH
Fraulo 6 Shows signs of being much better than a 6 but that won't come until he's given a run in the side
O?’Donnell because he's the number 3 keeper he's a 9+ on his performances to date
Banel 6. Quite likely an 8 but won't get there on 10 mins here and 15 there...
Murkin 9. Good defender good going forward good positionally and he has that "in your face" quality if an opponent gets uppity

As I don't go to matches anymore it's difficult for me to comment on individuals, however I think O'Donnell does deserve special praise for his excellent contribution since being chucked in at the deep end.
Rather than rate individuals I will say the squad as a whole deserve at least an 8 for imo achieving far more than most of us expected and thus making it a very enjoyable season. Relegation was put behind us long ago and the chance of reaching the play offs remains feasible as we move into late March. Really we couldn't have asked for much more.
    Well done everyone at DCFC!

Seems that there’s a developing consensus over Murkin. Strange how a player know one has heard of before can have such an impact.
The same could be said about the likes of Mickey Forsyth and Craig Bryson, amongst others I’m sure, and if he has the same impact as those two he’ll prove a great signing. Improved scouting maybe?

You mean the scout's name is no longer Simon, is aware that there are places further way than Rotherham or Blackburn and he has a passport.

    Just announced:

"Leigh Bromby has signed a permanent contract as Talent Acquisition Lead.
Ben Jones joins him as Talent Identification Lead."

So making moves to improve matters next season. Midfield the priority for me, and hopefully get some stability at the back.

Agree with the ratings in RA's post. I think and hope that Johnston and Fraulo will be big players next season. Aggy and Morris will be battling for the centre forward slot, both performed exceptionally.
