Didn't really help their cause having Bastoni sent off with a straight red in the 41st minute. That being said this will the third consecutive World Cup they've missed out on. They still have some decent players but they are nowhere near being the force they once were.

When they played NI in the play off's last week, Gianfranco Zola was part of the pundits team pre, half time and post match.
I think it was pre match or possibly half time where he explained that the good young players in Italy don't get enough chances in their top Italian 1st teams. Sound familiar
