It's getting a bit worrying now as the teams below us are catching up and getting draws. I am beginning to wonder when of if we will finally seal out place in the Championship next season or whether a return to League One beckons? I am sure Nathan Jones will have other ideas, but we really need at least 3 points to be safe.
Joe Rankin-Costello scored early in the first half, but as is customary in the games this season, we only seem to score one goal and then rely on the defence to ensure the win. This didn't happen as Preston scored before the break and again in the second half despite a late onslaught by the Add1cks.
Rankin-Costello scored from a long Carey throw from the right wing deflecting from a Preston player before JRC struck the back of the net. Lewis Dobbin also scored from a long throw equalising for Preston.
Preston started on the front foot in the second half and Potts scored from a Dobbin fed pass. The Addicks then piled on the pressure to get back into the game. Fevrier, Dykes and Godden could not quite find the elusive equaliser as all had chances blocked or saved. Next Saturday's trip to Sheffield Wednesday is now of huge significance in defining the Add1cks season.
Charlton goal: Rankin-Costello 18
Preston NE goals: Dobbin 25, Potts 65
Pick of the Players: Joe Rankin-Costello
