Back in the 1960?s my father and a fellow PE teacher in Dundee John Urquhart played 54 holes of golf in one day at Gleneagles. This was back in the days before the Yanks staying at Gleneagles Hotel took 5 hours plus to play a round of golf on the golf courses at Gleneagles.
My father and John Urquhart played 18 holes of golf on the Queens course in the morning, 18 holes of golf on the Kings golf course in the afternoon and 18 holes of golf on the Queens golf course in the early evening.
My father always said that the Queens golf course was a better and more interesting golf course than the Kings golf course despite all the top flight golf competitions being held on the Kings golf course.

Not much in it but prefer the Queens as the 600 yards difference off back pegs makes a difference to an auld timer like me.

Lost 2&1 today to scratch and 1 handicap players from Carlisle.

On the Queens again tomorrow morning, win and we get a game in the afternoon.

Golfing heaven but swerved the £8 pint of Tennant's and £8 steak peh.

    Loved every second of it.

£150 guaranteed 3 rounds, 8 if you get to the final.

Played the kings and queens on the same day in 76 with the Michelin golf section, definitely enjoyed the queens more, I’d only just took up the game 6 months before and playing off 23 at the time the queens suited me, I remember the we had a boggy prize , and poor pipey stewart won it with something like 162 shots on the kings course, when asked how he was playing he said he was okay level 7s after 6 then he blow up ha
