I see that face masks are not compulsory at royal ascot, as part of government research into the handling of mass events.

The guidance for meetings at Ascot during July and August 2021 say,
“Currently, face coverings will be mandatory for spectators in all areas, unless eating or drinking. However, this may not be needed when in outdoor areas, so please check this page ahead of your visit. A limited number of face coverings will be available to purchase on-the-day at Ticket Office East.”

This seems to be the norm currently across the UK. Visits to the Falkirk Wheel, the Kelpies, and Five Sisters Zoo in West Calder with my grandchild recently were all subject to similar restrictions. TV footage of the fitba makes it look like masks aren’t mandatory in such close-proximity crowds either.

And if a few aristo knobs manage to add virus-spreading among themselves to the traditional in-breeding, that can’t be a bad thing.

A few rumblings calling for Cressida Dicks head ( ) but that's nothing unusual. They should be starting with the mains suspects who were acquitted after their trial was sabotaged. (also with a big compensation pay out) Then probably a good idea to go after the folk who did the sabotaging.
