When I was at Uni in the 90's I remember a lecturer telling me that there was an estimate that malaria had killed half of all the humans who have ever lived. something like 50 odd billion over the last 50,000 years. Google it if you don't believe me.

Prof Brian Farragher says the claim that malaria has killed 50 billion people has been around for years but no one can ever pinpoint the source of the claim so doesn’t really sound very scientific.
