Every single day, you are being directly targeted in an information war you don’t even know you’re in. There’s an almost limitless amount of c*nts using a variety of ways, to shape the way you think, vote & live. Culture wars, dead cats, disinformation, troll bot farms, think tanks, grifters & right wing mouthpieces are constantly battling for your attention. Social media opens the door to it but you can’t avoid it. Media outlets aim their content towards getting rage clicks. Their columnists write articles to generate internet traffic, news anchors now offer opinion instead of fact.
Bullsh1t is incredibly powerful. It swung the Brexit vote, elected Trump & Johnson, caused the Jan 6th insurrection & made millions for prominent anti vaxxers. We live in a world where you can monetise saying Sandy Hook was faked & an utter sh1t stain like Andrew Tate, can become the poster boy for millions and kids
Closer to home, the GRA was used to split a previously united independence movement. You’ll say that that’s on Sturgeon but it’s the other way about. I was keeping an eye on it for a few years & your generation were specifically targeted. Have a look at the next Alba piss up & you’ll see they are overwhelmingly older. I’m guessing deep down you, stewarty etc feel a bit sidelined by the younger yessers? Even though you were wanting independence since before these funny dressing whipper snappers were born. That was heavily played upon.
It’s a f*cking minefield out there & we’re all potential victims

I think the problem is are far as Independence is concerned we are a in Indy vacuum. The wonderful unity 2012-2014 started to fall apart. Many reasons many scapegoats the momentum faded. Frustration comes to the fore. And battle hardened activists start to turn on each other. Some would say controversial policies like the Hate bill, GRR bill could have waited till we were Independent. For me personally impatience and frustration manifests itself in rammies like the one I'm having with Mason and I'm sure we agree on much more than we disagree. I'm 69 next week and can see our Independence getting further and further out of my lifetime. My Family, Aberdeen FC music and our Independence is the main things I live for these days. So come on SNP get yer feckin finger oot !!Originally posted by TheDeeDon View PostDidn't mean to come across as being hostile.
I respect anyone's views on here even if I don't agree with them.
I just want an independent Scotland and arguing about stuff that doesn't impact most peoples lives, but splits the movement boils my piss.
The SNP is far from being anything like perfect and do loads of things that hack me off, but nothing they do compares with what Westminster do on a constant basis.
Once Scotland has all the powers it needs independently then we should start to fight amongst ourselves about the rights and wrongs of policy.

Nah min, any remote chance went in 2014 ( is it really that long ago)
Folk believed the lies, fell for the bribes.
They will again.
We won't see an independent Scotland, I'm pretty sure Mason won't either.

You’re not giving them enough thought. It’s not propaganda, although that’s certainly a part of it. The bullsh1t gets far better results. Faster tooOriginally posted by donsdaft View PostAh, propaganda you mean.
It’s not new
I don’t feel sidelined at all
Not even remotely.
You’re overthinking things

I don't have to give them much thought.Originally posted by Mason89 View PostYou’re not giving them enough thought. It’s not propaganda, although that’s certainly a part of it. The bullsh1t gets far better results. Faster too
99.5% of it wouldn't reach me anyway and I can cope with the 0.5%
Some of it sneaks in, always has, always will but really you are far more a victim of it than I'll ever be.

I totally get where you're coming from. The amount of sh*t I've had to ignore on whatsapp from friends and family spouting looney stuff they have seen online. It ranges from pure tin foil hat stuff like pizzagate to simple stuff like Linekers "leftist woke agenda'.Originally posted by Mason89 View PostEvery single day, you are being directly targeted in an information war you don’t even know you’re in. I mean the guy can't just have an opinion. 'He's up to something and we need to stop him. It's war.' It's all just f*ckin *******s.
Of course I still haven't worked out if innocent minds are being corrupted or people are just too thick these days. For instance how can so many young lads admire some guy online so much they take to the streets demanding his release after he's been arrested for trafficking in Romania?

Aww, that’s quite quaint. The overwhelming majority of it reaches you. It goes back to the first thing I said, you’re just not aware of itOriginally posted by donsdaft View PostI don't have to give them much thought.
