Again fair enough, I'll take a wee break and reflect on that. Perhaps a Scottish Island beckons. Thank you.

Well, enjoy. If you're into ornithology I would highly recommend St Kilda. The volume of gannets and puffins (and the rest) is a real eye opener.

Bruton is actually lovely, and quite surprisingly posh nowadays. I am just outside.....nearer Castle Cary really, but never really go there either.
I’m familiar with Yeovil, to an extent - I remember the dulcet tones of the BBC presenter announcing the football results of the lower leagues decades ago at a time when there was no fast-forward. How boring that was, but we knew no different. In Somerset is it not? The days of Big Daddy etc. Dp

PS - don’t get too clever on here! It’s upsets some people.

          Reply to Stewarty:

Whore you referring too - wasn’t that (the etiquette issue) specifically in the context of entirely non-footballing matters and anti-English, anti-Unionist, pro-Scotland (at any costs) sentiment, the likes of which has ultimately led to the complete and utter, and not overdue, implosion of the SNP? The sh*** you spoke about cold-calling on peoples doors, talking complete sh*** is part of the reason for their demise. Tattie Floored, and the Nation ultimately weren’t so stupid as to take such ****e lying down.

… and that’s not what this someone once said - read and understand what I said and in context - you calling on peoples doors telling them “how it is” would infuriate many.

Attenborough’s, “Wild Isles” (or similar) on BBC is brilliant - look at the Orca Killer Whales in Shetland on episode 1!

I once walked past Farmfoods on a cold day.

                  • As a kid, I used to play at throwing mince up at their electric fly killer at their office at Woodside.

There was absolutely fück all else to do, still it was more exciting than playing with the adding machine ( giant early calculator) or wondering if my old man was really going to lock me in the cold store.

That may explain their own brand mince rounds.

Herdies mince was good, although I got it so often as a kid that I've never eaten mince and tatties since I left home in 1976.

I can't comment however on any modern Farmfood's product.

Their food has improved over the years. I suppose with all the competition now they had to up their game.

I mind when I got my first place over 30 years ago. We had a box of cheese pasties from Farmfoods and regardless of how hard we tried, we could never get them to change colour.

No matter how long they were in the oven for they came out the same pale colour as when they went in.

                            • Ach, I'm going back to the late sixties and early seventies.
My old man worked in the office and had to be there on a Saturday to take the cash from the butchers vans.
Occasionally I had to go with him, speak about boredom.

Worst of all, it was the reason I wasn't at the 1970 Scottish Cup Final.

The bästards wouldn't give my Da the day off, it was only years later that he told me that he had tickets.

I can't say I've ever used Farmfoods in the modern era ( after 1976) but it's a name I remember from my childhood because donsdaft snr. used to speak about it a lot as it was being set up.

                                Repy to Tatties/Shetland,

I may be guilty of going over the top on occasions "Mea Culpa" But your two pronged attack on me is quite pathetic in comparison.
